Is this a Metroid? Or perhaps a crab?

It has got to be some kind of decorator. I caught it picking polyps off my red zoe and planting them on its shell, which had regrown a layer of red algae like material. Its going to the LFS tomorrow.

Is this a Metroid? Or perhaps a crab?

This is really bizzarre looking. It was larger before I removed it, but prior to removal alot of soft tissue came off the shell. It was the same orange color, it looked like it had a few bulbs of algae as well near the head. After blowing off with my pipet, this is what was left. The photos are...

    Discovered New Crab...

I have a 125 reef tank that has been setup for 2 months. I added 80 lbs of live rock that had all kinds of life on it, but I didn't notice anything large scale until now. Sorry, I was not able to get a suitable pic due to the LED lighting that I use. I noticed a new crab, about the size of my...

    information on marine betta

I have one, they are good additions. Do keep in mind a few things though: They will eat smaller shrimp species, or any small thing that will fit in their mouth. After all, they are groupers. They will eventually get large, and be able to eat larger things. Mine generally hides out in the rock...

Get a Calcium Reactor and digital testers, or not?

So, what would be an "average" demand of an average load of coral in a 125 gallon reef tank? I am upping my calcium to 450ppm on the advice of my LFS, as they know what I have enjoyed there. I want a nice mix of critters, stoney, softies, etc, basically things that will look cool and move in the...

Get a Calcium Reactor and digital testers, or not?

I have a new 125g reef tank, and I am debating about getting a calcium reactor and digital probes to test/monitor PH and Calcium levels in the tank. What do you guys think about each of those devices? Any recommendations or brands to stay away from? The main reason I want the reactor is so I...

    How aggressive is aggressive?

I am starting a new reef tank, 125 g, getting a local company to assist me with the setup. I am looking at liveaquaria to get an idea of the corals I would eventually like to have, and I am curious to how "aggressive" aggressive coral is. Will it seek out and destroy its neighbors/fish? How can...

    Easy Feeding with Pill Reminder

That is what I use for the pet sitter I employee on trips :) Works great. Only problem is some of the flake food tends to stick to the plastic, but cleans right up.

90 gal setup after years of inactivity

Put in some of those cool underwater LED lighs, and some moonlights (blue leds) on your hood. Toss in Austin Powers and let nature take her course.

Just killed my best Fish :(

I have two seperate kits, I will do tests on all 3 tanks with each kit. I haev a 30 gal in my office at work and it has its own supplies. I know there should be nitrates, the only reason I thought they might not be present in my other two tanks would be they are also over filtered and have a lot...

Best Filtration for 75 gallon Malawi Tank

I have 2 XP3's running on my 75 gal Mbuna, creates GREAT circulation and with overfiltration you could get away with more fish, or better simulate their natural environment.

Just killed my best Fish :(

I really have no idea why you fail to believe me, if you were not half a world away I would mail you some water. Why would I ask for help and post false results? I test ammonia/nitrite every 3 or 4 days and nitrate every week or so. All of my tanks (all fully cycled) hardly ever have nitrates...

    Heavy duty cleaning needed

Vinigar works great. Just keep in mind that with Vinigar, bleach, CLR, you need to RINSE RINSE RINSE and RINSE again when you think you got it all out. Soap is the same way. Vinigar and a razor should do the trick, let it soak a bit.

I have cloudy water as well =)

When this happened in my 150 gal, I added a magnum 350 canister, solved the problem in 4 hours.

    algae wafers gone!

I live in a rural area, so I have constant mice problems. Best investment (other than the snake ;) ) would be a cat.

Water Change in Non Fish Tanks

I would initially think less, as they produce less waste. One thing to keep in mind would be that the changes get out a lot of the left over food, shrimp sheddings, etc. I would think though you could do it half as often if you don't have a silly amount of snails or shrimp.

Just killed my best Fish :(

All of the other fish are looking better now. Zagz, yeah the tank was great. 0/0/0 . Tank was 3 months old and cycled for a month using pure amonia. Yup, added dechlorinator. I have been doing this awhile, I have 3 tank setups currently and 2 under construction ;) I think if it was anything...

Just killed my best Fish :(

So, left for work this morning and everything in my Mbuna tank (Relatively new, stocking was 1 pair Mali Chiclids 4 Albinos 3 Goldens 2 Blue (forgot the name, sorry) In a 75g extremely overfiltered tank (2 Rena XP3's) I know it was understocked, but I was going slowly and adding new species...
