    BIO-Spira product feedback

How long can Biospira survive in my fridge? It's unopened and was kept on ice the whole way home and immediately transferred to the refridgerator. I ran into a little tank stand problem and am not quite ready to start the cycle. I know the lfs uses the cute little fridge from marineland. Is...

    Best experience in fish petstore...

I bought some compact flourescent bulbs, a power head, and some gravel from an lfs. I got home and saw that the girl didn't charge me for the bulbs. I'm an honest guy, so I went back the next day and told them about it. The man I spoke to was the owner. He said that he appreciated my honesty...

Maximum length of time fish can go without eating?

I've gone away for 4 or 5 days without feeding my fish. They're fine when I get back, but feast like voltures as soon as I drop some food in. I don't know about 2 weeks. Whatever you do, don't use those automatic feeders. Those things are garbage.

    Hello

Are the angels a breeding pair? I wouldn't go by inches per gallon when keeping angels. That measurement is more of a guide in terms of waste being produced. (Too many fish = too much ammonia) It doesn't take fish behavior into consideration. I used to have 2 extra large veil angels and a...

    Are these popular/commonly available ?

Yeah, that was my understanding. That the males have fancier fins.

    Lichen on lace rock unhealthy?

I just picked up a really nice piece of lace rock at the lfs. It has a lot of lichen on it(or so I was told). It's orange and green. It is slightly soft to the touch and smells bad. I boiled the rock and will scrape off as much of the stuff as I can. Will it be harmful to my fish? Does it...

    Flower Horn

Thanks for the kind words Voodoo. The deeper I get into this hobby, the more respect I have for each species and for preserving what nature has provided. I also have much respect for people like you. Enthusiasts with integrity and dedication are what make this hobby so great and who keep it...

    Flower Horn

I've done a lot of research over the past couple of weeks. I've read tons of articles and spoken to many people about flower horns. I've been talking to an owner in Singapore. She's taught me a whole lot about flower horns and the impact this species has had on her culture and on her little...

    Camera Choices

I have a Sony F717. I finally have a camera that I won't outgrow in the near future. I love it, so far. Here are some specs: 2/3-inch 5.24-megapixel CCD imager Still image sizes: 2560x1920, 2048x1536, 1280x960, 640x480 5x (38-190mm) all-glass Carl Zeiss F2-2.4 zoom lens TTL autofocus...

    Flower Horn

If by drab, you mean this. Then I'll take my chances. I have seen some Flower Horns with monstrosities of foreheads. It depends how they're bred. Yeah, some of them are a little too pronounced, like this one. That fish scares me and, ironically, it sold for $15,000.00 The cool...

    My fish are hot!

Read this thread: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/viewtopic.php?t=4822 There are a few good suggestions there. Hope it helps. :)

The use of Stress Coat ?

Stress Coat eliminates chlorine and helps neutralize chloramines. I'm under the impression that this is what's necessary for "water conditioning". I don't see the need for an additional water conditioner when doing water changes. I suppose if your ammonia is too high you could use Ammo-Lock...

I'm moving... What do I do about the fish?

Those are all very good suggestions. I really can't say much more. I'd just like to reiterate the importance of saving your gravel and filter media and keeping them wet. I'd hate for you to lose out on all that beneficial bacteria and have to start from scratch. Good luck with the move.

    Flower Horn

My local lfs has been getting this beautiful species of Flower Horn from Malaysia. Right now there are three medium sized(4-5") fish that I have to choose from(the best I've seen yet). They all have wonderful coloring. I only want one as a show fish in a 55 gal. by himself. My question is...

    african cichlids

I have 1 aulonocara(flavescent peacock), 2 labidochromis(electric yellows), 1 johanni(very aggressive), 1 frontosa, 2 brichardi, and an electric blue. I mixed lakes, but they all seem to be doing fine. I will probably move both brichardi into another tank. They get picked on the most and I...

    African vs Other cichlids

Planning a new 135g cichlid tank

Hello. I'd love to have a 135 gal. tank. I don't have the room. :( I keep African Cichlids, primarily from Lake Malawi, in my 55 gal. tank. They are aggressive fish by nature, so be prepared. They're very entertaining though. Many people have told me that they have successfully mixed...
