    added condylactis

I have the condy anemone in 10g tank with some corals for more than year, no problems from the anemone side. I'm keeping it just like any coral - without touching the neighbors. But yellow polyps, when covered the rock with anemone, left marks on anemone tectacles - better to keep them away, no...

Frequently moving a small reef tank?

I had seen on the web the handheld pico-reef, it is movable without disassembly: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=70637&st=20 brandon429 posted all possible details about setting and keeping such tank, the search on his name shows a lot of threads. Could be just what you...

    brain coral question ??

Thanks! Wetwebmedia and the general web search give information, quite different from liveaquaria. More like zooplankton around 1/2" pieces and finely chopped meaty pieces of seafood. Examples are http://www.wetwebmedia.com/trachyreproart.htm and http://www.wetwebmedia.com/trachyphlliidae.htm...

Best pH test? What about digital pH testers?

If we are talking about Hanna pH checker, instruction says rinse well and keep electrode damp all the time, using something like damp piece of paper towel inside the cap. This checker is for pH only. Scoot, hope that your Hanna pH checker lasts longer than mine. :D

Best pH test? What about digital pH testers?

I'm getting color light, as 7.8 on the chart, but of cold brown shade, not yellowish brown, as 7.0 on the chart. This constant guesswork - is kit working or not, and will the next kit work better or the same - is very frustrating.

    brain coral question ??

What do you do then, for a successful keeping? I also don't have MH, PC only, didn't feed for a some time, then tried to feed (and another trachyphyllia in opposite order), they are not eating. Water parameters (measurable ones) are good, carbon is weekly changed. What else could I try...

Reverse flow UGF blows sand up

Did that in the first setup, sand and LR. Same problem in debris accumulation in the sand, and impossibility to clean it in the not readily accessible places. UGF: my fault, I thought that the thread name would be enough. I meant reverse flow UGF. How it works - you know: powerhead pushes water...

I wonder if this thing work... Seachem Ammonia Alert

My Seachem Ammonia Alert changed color only during LR curing, when AP ammonia test kit results were above 1.0 ppm.

    brain coral question ??

Anything, except Trachyphyllia, was easy to me: Scolymia, Cynarina, even Symphyllia and Lobophyllia. Is there any secret to keep Trachyphyllia alive, other than MH and feeding?

Best pH test? What about digital pH testers?

Had somebody else seen colors, not existing on the chart, while using AP pH test kit? Xenia continue to pulse all the time. I also have Coralife pH Checker by HANNA, pretty soon adjusting screw for the calibration in the solution with pH 10.0 reached limits before than 10.0 was on the display...

    Hagen KH test kits

I eventually bought Aquarium Pharmaceuticals KH kit - comparable price, results the same as Salifert kit (I'm checking now each new box, comparing to Salifert results). Hagen gave a really strange results.

    Sure Grip Magnetic Powerhead Holder

Have 2 Sure Grips and love them. They are thin - much thinner than Mag Float, unobtrusive, hold really good, and for comparison even the cheapest large magnet cleaner costs here CND$18.

Please help with starving issue-my Mandarin Goby

I would do some water changes, just to remove products of metabolisms of all the creatures in the tank. Also, I see it everywhere, that brine (adult) is sort of junk food, just tastes good, mysis has more nutritional value. I have mandarins and scooter blennies (both of dragonet family) for a 3...

Reverse flow UGF blows sand up

LR- hard to say, all times re-aquascaping. I would say, not less than 1Lb/gal. Filtration - the smallest sump with 50 micron sock, changed daily, carbon and Phosguard, plus 5g refugium (tank is 20g L) with LR rubble and macroalgae - a lot of it. Skimmer (ASM mini) is already ordered, waiting for...

Reverse flow UGF blows sand up

After cleaning sponge prefilter from Reverse Flow powerhead (Penguin), sand started to be blown up near tube. It was hard to disconnect, may be I displaced something. Tried to restore the best way I could, all the same. And visually there all is all right, except blowing up. What could be done...
