    Help!! Euphillya problems!

"Use 1 package for aquariums up to 40 gallons, 2 packages for 40- to 100-gallon aquariums. Aquariums above 100 gallons require 2 packages plus one package for every additional 25 gallons." (From Drs. F&S info) The math seems right to me (she said anxiously) 125g = 3units Since I didn't...

    Help!! Euphillya problems!

Higher doses????? What do you consider higher doses of ChermiPure? I'm only using the bare minimum required for a 125g tank. And I thought these 'units' were highly researched and proven to last at least the 3mo period that I've been using them. I know you shouldn't leave carbon in too long...

    Help!! Euphillya problems!

Two units I added maybe six weeks ago; the third, about four weeks ago. They are supposed to be changed every four or five months, no? I have the changes scheduled into my computer's calendar so I will remember to change them out, and I change them one or two at a time. ....does that make a...

    Help!! Euphillya problems!

No brown jelly disease. I did add a colt coral about three weeks ago.... but I've also had a small polyp leather in there for years. The colt is very far from both Euphyllia corals. I have mushrooms, xenia, zoos and palys, dendros, a duncan, two small acans, open brain, blastos.... they all...

    Help!! Euphillya problems!

First, the essentials: 125gal mixed reef with ~180lbs live rock, 30lbs of which are in the wet/dry filter as rubble. Sg 1.026, pH 8.4, Nitrites 0, Ammonia 0, Nitrates 1, Ca 440-460 (I hate Ca tests!), KH/Alkalinity 8.6/3.09 (Salifert tests). I've had this tank set up for about 2.5-3 years...

Wow.... something so simple, and it works! Thanks. Of course, now that opens up new possibilities for MORE coral placement.....

    Super glue

I always hear people talking about using super glue to place corals in their tank. I have some zoos on a rock that my CUC keeps knocking off their perch. I would like to glue that rock onto my LR. What kind of super glue is it that you use? Can you do it right in your display tank?

    Selcon soak...how long?

I've gone ahead and purchased Selcon and Garlic. From what I've read here, it seems the way to go. I read the package directions, but am curious as to the methods you fine people employ. How long a soak? How much do you use? Always get good ideas from you folks!

I think I need more flow? Help, please?

I never cease to be amazed at the help this forum so freely gives out. Thanks! I just bought a couple of the #3 Koralias. Last questions: Since they don't have to pump water any distance up, that means that their rating of 850gph does not have to be adjusted? And once I get them into the...

I think I need more flow? Help, please?

Yes, I have about 140lbs in the main tank, and another 30lbs in the wet/dry. How exactly would I figure out how much flow I have now? I don't understand what "head" means (well, in aquarium speak, anyway!) in terms of subtracting and adding gph according to turns and stuff. I think I got...

I think I need more flow? Help, please?

I think I've misunderstood a couple of things I've read, and I think I need more flow in my tank. Right now, I have two pumps, rated 500gph and 350gph, coming from my wet/dry filter (minus bioballs!), and a 350Mag canister filter (without any media except for a bag of Purigen.) My tank is a...

    My pH dropped....

Yup....it had to be the windows! I repositioned my PH. The PH also came with an oxygenator that I never bothered to use, so I stuck it on, and let it oxygenate the water. After the repositioning, and a day of the extra oxygen, I measured my pH. It's back to 8.3..... Thanks! I couldn't...

    My pH dropped....

A good article, but now I'm really not sure what to do! I realized I'd done something else in the last week.....I covered my old house windows (which were really leaky) with that shrink wrap plastic stuff, and after reading that article, I thought "Uh-oh." I also removed the aquarium lid last...

To fuge or not to fuge?

Well, I want to add a refugium, but I'm not sure if I should, or how I should. I have a 125g, with ~170lbs LR, ~70lbs LS, a Mag 350 filter, and a wet-dry trickle filter with two return pumps (one a 350 and the other a 500.) I also have an AquaRemora HOB skimmer. The wet-dry filter runs...

    My pH dropped....

Actually, I normally measure in the mornings, but after lights have been on awhile. Thus said, I decided to remeasure this morning after reading Kurt's reply. ....it's closer to 7.8 this morning, where last night it was closer to 8.0. My previous tests were normally 8.2 or 8.3. I didn't...

    My pH dropped....

I've been testing my water weekly, so this happened within the last week. Normally, my tests show no ammonia or nitrite, my nitrates around 15, and my pH around 8.2. Last week, I upgraded my RO to an RO/DI unit, and have been using that for topoffs and my PWCs. This evening when I tested, my...

    Suggestions for new fish

I just had to give away my cute little sharp-nosed pufferfish (canthigaster) because he was eating up my clean-up crew. (We nicknamed him Charlie Manson!) I want to leave open the possibility of adding a mushroom or two, and I want to keep the tank peaceful. Does that eliminate these two (the...

    Suggestions for new fish

I have a 125g FOWLR tank, with ~170lbs LR in the tank and wet/dry filter/sump, and ~65lbs LS. It is inhabited by 1 lawnmower blenny (eating well & getting fatter!), 1 Fridman's dottyback, 1 coral beauty, 1 yellow tang, 4 green chromis, 1 sandsifting star, and 1 brittle star, along with various...

    How many is too many?

This does help, thank you. Activated carbon? ...and here I thought I was doing well to replace it with LR rubble. What's the reason for the activated carbon? (Please excuse my ongoing questions; I'm infamous among my friends for all my questions.)

    How many is too many?

I believe I understand the limited capabilities of having fish in my 10g tank. However, I know me. As a relative virgin to reefkeeping, I know I should start slow, i.e., sticking to mushrooms and the easier soft corals and such. That still leaves a wide open door though, and I don't want to...

    uh-oh, now what?!? Lighting/feeding/nano/newbie questions

WOW!! Woke up this morning to find the moon coral with all its tentacles waving....I can see where this reefkeeping business can get addictive. (uh-oh) I'm going to purchase the PC lighting this morning but still have a few questions. Apparently the old adage "Less is more" does not apply to...

    uh-oh, now what?!? Lighting/feeding/nano/newbie questions

After reading all I could about the 14K MH lamp, I decided I was sufficiently clumsy enough to steer clear of it. *sigh* If I go with the 80W PC lighting, how will that affect my choices of additional corals and mushrooms in the future? Is this lighting considered low? med? high? Also, I...
