    Platy w/ long-lasting gravid spot(?)

Thanks for this valuable information! --- Anyways, I did another water test, prior to a 24% water change: pH 6.0 Ammonia 0.25ppm Nitrite 0ppm Nitrate ~0ppm There was recently a slice of cucumber and a small piece of celery added to the tank as some snail treats. And, as stated before, a 25%...

Alrighty! :bb: I'll continue updating this thread with water stats in the meantime, and possibly a report of the fry when that time comes around.

    Platy w/ long-lasting gravid spot(?)

Okay so I have an update after nearly a month now that I have a good test kit: pH - 6 Ammonia - Slightly above 0ppm Nitrite - 0ppm Nitrite - Roughly 10ppm Once again, I have only just removed a lime from my tank, so I'll try to remember to test the water again once it clears up. Also, there's...

    Young Platy Suddenly Lost Weight

Here are the pictures. Not very high quality, my bad. If this helps at all, imagine the belly of a platy as a grape. Now squish the grape and cut it to half its size.

    Young Platy Suddenly Lost Weight

So I was just watching my fish tank as one does, and I noticed that a fry I've had for roughly 6 months (born in my tank) was suddenly really skinny, unlike her normal plump appearance. I did some research, and I'm thinking it may be internal parasites, but some help or feedback would...

Okay! New test strips have been ordered already, but I'll try to remember to get a liquid test kit next time.

    Platy w/ long-lasting gravid spot(?)

Did another water test (and got a mystery snail bc the water looked way better) Nitrate - roughly 20ppm Nitrite - somewhere between 0.5 and 1 (it was hard to tell since the petsmart test strips i have are old and kinda faded) pH - about 6.2 Hardness - 150-300 Chlorine - ever so slightly over 0...

    stock question

3 gouramis might actually be all you need, since 10-gallon tanks can't hold may creatures for too long, at least from my experience (1 fish per gallon is a good rule to go by to avoid overcrowding). Btw I wish you luck with your tank! :)

Thank you so much! I'll try to get one of the products as soon as I can. Also by ammonia sources, does that include fish food or just plants/marine life?

    Platy w/ long-lasting gravid spot(?)

Alright, the next tests have been done. The tank results were: pH - 6.4 Ammonia - 0ppm Nitrite - 0.50ppm Nitrate - 40ppm On the other hand, this is what my tap water showed: pH - 8.4 Ammonia - 1ppm Nitrite - 0ppm Nitrate - Somewhere between 5ppm and 10ppm I had a lime slice in my tank...

    Pregnant swordtail

In all honesty, I'm not sure.. Perhaps it's just her insides? After all, that is a very light-colored fish- Though I'm not really an expert in this field. :turn-l: my apologies-

Have you checked your water quality recently (ammonia, PH, nitrite, nitrate)? I have a similar issue myself, and there's a possibility that a water change or two may be required.

    Planaria Problem, Help please!

I'm personally not sure about changing between treatments, but doing a 50% change beforehand may help.
