29 gal tank. Can I add anything?

5 serpae tetras 2 lemon tetras 7 neons 5 cory cats I tried a dwarf gourami, but it died. :( Not sure why, it didn't seem sick and everyone else is thriving. I would like something that swims closer to the top, but it has to be something that the Serpae tetras will leave alone. I do a 50% PWC...

    Impulse buy, Bolivian Ram -Help

I hear you on not wanting to pass them up. I fell madly in love with the little bolivian ram at work. Well on Monday I came in to him no longer having a tail. There are not really any fish in the tank that would do that, and it looked to me like he got caught on something and it was ripped off...

    Weird thought about food...

With all the pet food recalls, and all of the recent "mysterious fish deaths", I wonder if some of that melamine stuff hasn't worked it's way into the fish food industry as well?????

Taking over work aquarium. WAaaaaaaaaaay overstocked.

Ok, so the aquarium at work is a shambles. I never really looked at it before because I couldn't stand the person who took care of it. She quit and OMG the poor fish! #1 - it was FILTHY. #2 - it is severely overstocked. It is a 29 gallon tank. Here is a partial list of the fish in there, I...

    Show Me Your Plecos!!

Ok, some of these guys are pretty darn cute. I have fallen absolutely IN LOVE with my albino cories. I suppose there isn't a pleco that is small enough for a 20 gallon??? I could never get one and then take him in for adoption when he got too big. I would get too attached.

    Edamame beans???

I never have peas, but do you think these would be ok to give to the fish? Or would they even like them? They are actually soybeans. I enjoy them, but that doesn't mean the fish will LOL

New fish person... don't laugh at my descriptions!

 RIP Tonto. I know that isn't a very girlie name but it fit her. She was a silver Molly. She started to look better yesterday, but when I got home today, she was swimming in a total "S" shape and her gills looked dark. She was also gasping and I couldn't take it anymore. I didn't want her...

New fish person... don't laugh at my descriptions!

It is my tap water. That comes out to right around 8. I bought the driftwood in hopes of naturally lowering the PH. I don't want to use a ton of chemicals if I can help it.

    Sorry this may seem dumb?

Well, my water hasn't seemed as clear the past couple days. I thought it may be that? I may just add some of that fiberfill stuff then to see if that clears things up? Oh, and I have used tank water to rinse it. Thanks

    Sorry this may seem dumb?

I have tried rinsing it. Done that a few times at water changes, but it isn't cutting it. I thought they recommend changing out the biobag monthly? There is a filter pad in front of the biobag. Can I just leave that in and change the biobag?
  20. A

    Sorry this may seem dumb?

Ok, I really need to change out my filter. I keep reading about how it can restart your cycle blah, blah, blah. I have a whisper 20 filter with the biobag and another filter in front of that. Can I change out the whole biobag in one shot?

    New Fauna

JBarr, I think pretty much any lake, stream, or river in MN that you go to will have minnows in it. I don't think the person that started this thread is from here though?

    Is "River Water" better?

Not trying to be rude or anything, but I don't think the author of this thread wants feedback. Only wants to tell how he is doing things right or wrong???

I think so?? Plus any you have in your freezer unless they are store bought.

    New Fauna

I was reading that in certain states such as mine - Minnesota, that having native fish in an aquarium count towards your legal limit for fishing? I have always thought it would be cool to have an aquarium full of crappies and sunnies.

    What to do???

It is a 20 gal. tank. I don't have the $ right now for a QT tank. :( Just got a nice $800 bill from the doc, that insurance won't be covering. She is eating fine, swimming fine and acting like everything is perfectly normal. I put some salt in the water and have turned the heat up just a tad...
