Honey gourami female chasing the male

The one with more vivid colur is chasing the smaller paler one. Can't decide whether two females or one female and a one male. Anyway, it seems that the more vivid one is always making sure that the other stays at the back of the tank. No biting though, only chasing.

Should I treat used aquasoil from someone else?

Hi, I'm planning to rescape my tank with new substrate system which include crushed basalt rock (not the pourus kind) as a base layer, covered with a used mix of aquasoil, sand and deponit, and a capping layer of pool sand. Is there a way to disinfect the used mixed substrate? It is from a...

    Stocking beyond what aqadvisor recommends

20 neons, 9 amano shrimps and one honey gourami in a 20 gallon heavily planted tank, all parameters are 0. According to aqadvisor this is 100% of my filtration capacity, and a 91% stocking level. I'm running an internal 100l/h + a sponge filter. Will it be safe to add 10 ember tetras to the tank?

    Snail safety

I'm looking to get a snail but not sure about whether it will be safe with the substrate I'm using (in the photo). I'm afraid that it will scratch/cut the snails foot. The pebbles aren't sharp to the touch and are from a reputable brand. Cheers.

Having problem feeding new fish in quarantine tank

I have 9 neon tetras that I got 5 days ago that I put in a quarantine tank. When I got them at the fish store I bought frozen brine shrimp cubes and tropical fish flakes - but they didn't have the flakes I ordered, and instead gave me an unknown brand that they use to feed their fish. I'm not...

Frequency of vacuuming in a no substrate quarantine tank

I have recently set up a quarantine tank for new fish. Currently it has 9 neon tetras in it. When I feed them they don't eat much because they're still stressed, and most of the food makes it's way to the bottom. How often should I vacuum the tank? Doing it it every day looks to me a bit...
