    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

I hand delivered her today already. She was going to be looked at the same day but they didn’t give me details beyond that. I assume it will take weeks to grow culture but wanted to hear from other’s experiences on what to expect in terms of answers when it comes to testing for TB.

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

I was able to find a university that agreed to test for mycobacterium species. Hopefully they actually go ahead and do it. How long does it usually take to get results in your experience?

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

Unfortunately my fish just passed. She was on her side at the bottom. Her one eye was protruding more than the other and as I prepared epsom bath she died. What could this be based on photos? I am going to try to have necropsy done if I can find a place. Right now she is in a zip lock in a...

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

Should I panic and assume fish TB? I read that haphazard swimming could be symptom of mycobacteria (a neurological presentation). What else could it be? I am getting scared now for myself and my dogs and cats.

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

Update for those following this thread. Chuna is alive. One moment she is floating upside down and doing acrobatics or lying at the bottom on her side and another she is lying on her side at the bottom and then she is up and gulps at a surface like a normal honey. This floating happens after...

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

She goes up, gulps air, goes down and seems to be peaceful and doesn’t move much unless I turn the light on. Most of the time she is at the bottom of the tub (it’s very shallow).

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

Update. Chuna is alive and I haven’t observed any darting or sinking. She got another soak in epsom salt and is still in medicated water post soak - I changed water and dosed same dose of paracleanse and expel p to keep ammonia at bay (it’s zero). I had to do this since the filter I am using in...

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

Things are not looking good. I heard her dart and ran into the room and she was swimming unnaturally and then floated upside down, fell down and stayed upside down at the bottom like she was dying. I gave her an epsom bath (1 tablespoon per gallon for 10 minutes and then had her in another one...

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

Could she be started by her own reflection? This is a large acrylic tank so I assume she can see her reflection in it?

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

I have too many fish in this tank imho. I already upgraded it to 45 from 29 because I felt bad for them. I have 16 tetras (rummy and neon kind), 2 ottos, shrimp, a few snails, one guppy, one German ram and 6 small Cory’s

Oh my!! Can I add just one male? I am really concerned about overstocking this tank.

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

She did it again. This time me taking picture of her perhaps spokeed her. She darted and then did circles and then positioned herself weirdly nose down in grass for a good 15 second or more and then swam up and behind the filter. Is this a swim bladder issue?

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

I don’t think it is correlated to light changes since she doesn’t always do it when lights change. I assume she is a she because she has a dark line. She has been solo for a while. Could she have gotten stressed and lonely suddenly? Should I get a partner for her?

    Honey Gourami erratic swimming

Hi! My honey gourami started displaying strange swimming behavior at times. Most of the time she is at a top of the tank, hiding behind the filter and acts her usual self. But I noticed a few times in the morning and evenings she will dart and swim across the tank back and forth as if she is...

Ghost or Macro: help me ID

I bought two shrimp which were sold to me as ghost. Please help confirm that these are indeed Ghost shrimp and not aggressive macro. PS: one of the shrimps has a front claw (foot missing). Both had red bands on their front legs while at a store. No longer visible in a quarantine tank.

Help! Fuzzy fins on pigmy Cory

He is swimming upside down (more like floating). I wonder if he had parasites and I killed him by adding paracleanse in a panic to save him. He looked okayish earlier and then this. I am devastated. I think he will die and all because of me. I gave him fresh water in a desperate attempt. He is...

Help! Fuzzy fins on pigmy Cory

Thank you so so much!!! I used a tiny brush to gently clean his side and it looks like it was rotten food stuck to his fins! I am still going to treat him in case he has an infection. Also because he is so small and not growing, I added paracleanse to the mix.

Help! Fuzzy fins on pigmy Cory

Moved him into a bucket with water and heater. Dosed with aquarium salt, ice x and Maracyn combo. What else can I do? I don’t want to lose him - so sad to see this.

Help! Fuzzy fins on pigmy Cory

Tank parameters are perfect. Water changes weekly (min 50 percent) 23 gallon tank stocked with 8 pigmy corydoras, 6 tetras (will move them soon), one honey gourami, 1 bamboo shrimp and one female guppy. Went away for 4 days, came back and saw rotted fungus covered food (looked like fish...

Help! Fuzzy fins on pigmy Cory

Hi all, please advise on how to treat fuzzy fins on my pigmy Cory. Everyone else in the tank is fine. This Cory looks to be a rant. He rest of Cory cats are fine. It looks like a dot with fuzzy surrounding.

    Aggressive sparkling gourami

Leaning towards getting another tank and moving these two sparklers. I have heard that they can go after shrimp. Would it be a bad idea to have a shrimp tank with just these two?

    29 Gallon Stocking Tips

The amount of corys depends on the species. You could have 12-16 pigmy Cory’s but only 6 of bigger varieties in a community set up. Be sure to have lots and lots of plants to fish can hide, be stimulated and find peace.
