    Filtration and Water Change Questions

Thank you! It doesn't look like it would be overcrowding since there's a lot of open space at the top area and minimal bottom decor/plants. Do you have any recommendations for a non-nitrogen fertilizer? Or, is that Thrive too? I have added a piece of driftwood, but it doesn't have many...

    Filtration and Water Change Questions

Wow, really shaking bottle #2 made a big difference! It's hard to tell which orange it's at, but it looks like it's 10 ppm - 20 ppm. I haven't changed the water for about a week. I guess it's time? And I guess I don't need Thrive? Do you think the tank is in a good shape so far? Would I be...

    Filtration and Water Change Questions

So I ran tests on the big fish tank and everything looked good (low on all except Nitrates which is in the 5 ppm range). I guess I need to do water changes to lower the Nitrates? Or, should I get more live plants? I've removed the powerheads and installed the big boy filter. So far, so...

    Filtration and Water Change Questions

Water parameters? No... I do occasionally use the water test strips and the color said it was in a good range. I don't know anything about nitrogen cycle... The tank has been up for about 2-3 months. When I gravel clean, I don't do it around the plants. So the higher filtration can...

Thank you! How do I know if my tank is cycled? Oh! I was trying to stir up yucky stuff on the gravel with the powerheads

    Filtration and Water Change Questions

Thank you! I will do that tonight. So I am planning on putting in a driftwood piece in the middle and remove some of the other decor (minus the live plants) for better water flow. I don't know if you noticed, but I have three powerheads in there. I was thinking of removing that circular...

    Filtration and Water Change Questions

I just realized it wouldn't work for my faucet since it's one of those detachable multi-function faucet heads. :banghead: And here are a couple of pictures of my tank and the neon tetras:

    Filtration and Water Change Questions

Wow, thank you so much!! I'll take a pic of the tank. Just to warn you, it's not the most aesthically pleasing tank. Haha! The plants I have for mostly ferns and moss. I just ordered a filter rated for 300 gallons per hour (for a 70 gallon tank).

    Filtration and Water Change Questions

Good morning! I was wondering what you guys think. 1) Is it always better to have a higher filtration gallons per hour number than what is recommended? For example, is it always better to get a filter that's rated for 70 gallons than 50 gallons? (I have a 38 gallon) 2) How do you guys do...

    Safe to consolidate fish tanks?

Good morning! I currently have three tanks (38 gal, 10 gal, and a 5 gal). I would like to move the female betta fish in the 10 gal to the 38 gal community tank and move the male betta in the 5 gal to the 10 gal tank. -6 Madagascar Rainbow -5 Neon Tetra -like 4 assorted fish I'm not even...

    Is this dumb?

I was thinking about something like this. Have both aim towards the gravel to stir up the junk in the dead zone. Wouldn't that work better?

    Is this dumb?

Thank you so much! The dimensions of the tank is kinda weird. It feels more like a square than a long rectangle. Is this not recommended? Do you have any product recommendations for a powerhead?

    Is this dumb?

Good morning! Is it dumb to aim a powerhead towards the gravel on the opposite side of the filter? That way, it'll stir up the yucky stuff towards the filter and be cleaner in the tank? This is in a 38 gallon tank. Thank you!

    hi

Good morning! I am pretty new to this world so you'll probably see me on the forums often. Haha! I have one 38 gallon tank, a 10 gallon tank, and a five gallon tank. I have a female betta with a couple of snails in the 10 gallon, a male betta with a couple of snails in the five gallon, and a...
