i have one 8 inch male cyanogattus (texas cichlid). He attacks the glass when i put my finger to the tank. I have him in a 75 and know that I can fit someone in there with him just not sure what type of fish would be able to handle him. As soon as i put someone in the tank I realize that the...

    Tank size for these guys

I was wondering what tank size would be neccessary to house a texas cichlid, and oscar, a jack dempsey, a convict, and a firemouth. Im guessing 180. What do you think?

    Companion for Firemouth

Your option are going to be limited in a tank of that size as their is not much room for him to develop a territory. He will most likely wind up killing or harrasing anything you put in there. A larger tank such as a 40 or a 55 would provide you with some more flexibility.

    Sand Bed

you could just mix the sand and the coral. The coral will likely raise the ph a bit also just so you know which is ideal for africans but less than ideal for central or south american cichlids. What type of fish are you thinking about getting and whats the ph level of the water coming out of...

    Tips and Tricks

I was having trouble with floating small plants (duckweed, pieces of guppy grass, java moss etc) getting sucked up by the filter and sticking all over the end of the cover at the end of the tube. I put a bubble bar under it and that solved that problem. It stays clear now. I but a bubble...

    Evaluate this statement

    or dirty filters......?
  19. N

    Evaluate this statement

You CAN have to much filtration in a fish tank because to much media in filters will cause over conversion of nitrites to nitrates leading to high nitrate problems. Thanks

    How often to feed?

I feed 2-3 times a day. Its really simple you can feed them as much as you want however increased feedings will decrease the water quality leading to more water changes. I want my fish to grow quickly and be vibrant in color so I feed 2-3 times a day and do frequent water changes to accomodate.
