Hey Jason really glad to hear that trigger is doing well. Nice insertion of foot in the mouth there. lmao. Got a chuckle out of that. That particular trigger you bought was originally purchased as a very small baby in springfield and then traded to me for that larger porcupine puffer we had in...

    Red Goniopora

Kribbz, thanks for responding. I think the red goniopora has to be one of the prettiest corals that is commonly passed up because of bad experiences with green gonioporas in thier pasts. If hard coral are doing well in ones established tank red goniopora should do great. Take special note of the...

    need a 2 3/8" hole drilled

Kevin, if you go to Beldt's Aquarium in Hazelwood, Missouri they can drill that tank for you. They drill at the wholesale shop in back of their retail store, but I think you have to talk to the people at the retail shop to schedule an appointment and you pay at the retail shop. Beldt's is on...

    Red Goniopora

[/b]Where in the world has everyone been on this forum? Anyway, I just bought a complete tank setup from one of my customers. Its a 29 gallon setup. The point of this story is I have heard from some of my customers that they have been told by other lfs that red goniopora is very difficult to...

    Keeping Feather Stars

I was wondering if anyone has had any long term success with any species of feather stars? I ( Dean McNutt owner of an lfs in southern Illinois ) Just got one in on a shipment I received from Seadwelling Creatures. The star came in healthy and intact, took the normal precautions acclimating it...

somthing is eating my orange linka starfish help

Any aquatic shop that tells you linkias don't need acclimating might be one you want to avoid in the future. I talk more customers out of starfish than I actually sell. Starfish do not handle shipping well at all. If you want to try a starfish in the future I would suggest you have the store...

I am not sure just exactly what the life span of a catalina goby is. I have had in the past three of these cute little fish in a three gallon reef and the lived for about three years. If their life span is longer than three years than the higher temps did indeed shorten their life , but , I am...

    Red headed gogy spawn

I finally called ORA farms this morning. I talked to a gal named Laura who was familiar with the red headed gobies. She told me that the normal incubation time on these eggs is 7-10 days. She also stated if the parent fish were not fed properly before the spawn the fry may not be strong enough...

    Clean up crew over kill?

Another thing you might want to keep in mind is that those mexican turbo snails get large. If you are planning on putting coral in your tank the smaller snails Steve mentioned would be a much better choice because they wont knock over coral as bad.

    Red headed gogy spawn

Yes , I am sure the bangii will eat the fry. I have been checking the fry late every night to see if they have hatched, hoping to save a few. I would prefer to let the goby keep the eggs fanned so I haven't removed the eggs for that reason. ORA farms may indeed have some answers for me and I do...

Where in the heck is my Ammonia spike?

Another concern is many nitrate test kits will read very inacuratly if there is any ammonia present , which you said there was. It would be hard to imagine that you have enough anarobic bacteria going to start reducing the nitrates already. IME with out using live sand it can take as long as 8...

    Red headed gogy spawn

Has anyone out there had any experience hatching out red headed gobies? I had a pair lay eggs nearly 3 weeks ago. One of the fish guards the eggs, fans them, and mouths them. There are catalina gobies and a baby bangaii cardinal in the tank with them, but , the little red headed goby keeps them...

    probably won't like the answer

How long has the bicolor been in this tank? Seems to me the longer the fish has been in the tank the meaner they seem to get to new comers.

    lunare/moon wrasse (3.-4"), is it a buy?

Wow, I see this time after time after time. I own a small pet store in southern Illinois. It seems one of my hardest jobs is trying to convince people they already have too many fish in their tank. After stating such they still buy another. The tank tends to fine for a while then BOOM! water...

    Next good fish??

I have had great luck with the fridmani (Orchid dotty back). I have even cycled tanks in with tank raised orchids that at a later point spawned on many occasions. The tank raised ones take off eating immediatly, are hardy, and have decent manners for a dotty back!

Hmmmm, I too have heard and read that these cute little fish can only be kept in cooler water, but personally I have had great success keeping them in tropical waters as long as the temperature doesn't reach much over 78 degrees. I presently have 5 in my store right now. I have had these fish...

    A good invertebrate book

After reading your question, and if coral are the invertebrates your are wanting to learn about I would suggest Eric Borneman's Aquarium corals. The other book the others have listed is one I am not familiar with. I MUST have it  One can never be armed with too much information. I...

    Algae

Conan, do you presently have any herbivores in the tank to help prevent this problem? If not you may consider some, however , to answer your question directly, you can scrub your live rock with a brush to remove the algae. I would suggest that you scrub it in a separate bucket in saltwater...
