well you could try, the concern is that you need to spend a few bucks to get started in SW and you don't wanna spend the money and end up "throwing the towel in" from the potential frustrations that a smaller system can cause. just my thoughts though.

Are you wanting to use your 10G tank to keep the costs down? If not, many would recommend getting a larger tank to start with because smaller volumes have are less forgiving with fluctuations. If you decided to get a bigger tank, your 10G will always be useful as a QT or a sump.

I'm wondering if there is any cons against using clear vinyl flex tubing from home depot for use between my sump and overflow box. I thought I read something about it awhile back, but can't remember whether it was good or bad. Thanks

I have a mag 9.5 which has a 3/4'' output and I am wondering if I should feed it into 1" PVC pipes for the return instead of the 3/4. Any thoughts? I'll have a ball valve to control flow.

do you have an automated top-off system? tunze makes some good ones.

Are you talking about using the mag as a return or as the backup to keep the siphon going on the overflow? As a return, it should work, but if not, put a gate valve on the return side of the pump to control the flow. Mag pumps will be fine with some restriction. Or... you could place a "tee"...

many are happy with their purchases from ebay (aquasafe, filterdirect etc...) I'd go with a 100GPD one. The ebay ones have good prices.

hey zero... how long have you been using that system for. I just bought the same one and am only going to use it for my tank to keep the cost down on filters. Im just wondering if you've had to change the filters more often than expected. I have fairly good tap water here so thats a plus.
