ok, so i got the mixing down as far as temperature goes, but the reaction is producing gas within 30 minutes!! lot's of bubbles how do i slow it down?? the bubbles are going through the diffuser so fast, they don't even decrease in size!!!

i'm beginning to battle algae, and have yet to get any CO2. two store bought packages were a full year out of date, and NOW, the newly purchased yeast i mixed up is not producing any CO2... WHAT AM I DOING WRONG????? i used someone's advice, to warm up the sugar in water on the stove top...

does yeast go bad? two days ago i cleaned out my fermentation container, and put in sugar cubes instead of loose sugar. added the champagne yeast, and the other thing that stabilizes the reaction....filled it with luke warm water... and i got NO bubbles??? was it the sugar cubes?:confused:

What causes this to grow? Since adding a modest CO2 system, i have defeated the algae from suffocating my plants. As my tank matures, i have found this small tuft of red algae growing at the top of my divers mask.
