Clownfish all of a suddon sick

Also, I'm so glad your Clown was just sleeping. They are very personable sweet fish. They will quickly learn that you feed them and will 'beg'.

Clownfish all of a suddon sick

I'm pretty new but have been told to do more frequent 10%-20% h2o changes rather than infrequent huge (50%) changes. Anyone want to chime in? I do 15-20% water changes every 5-7 days in a 24 gal reef tank.

    Firefish dying?

Thank you all for your condolences. It is so sad to see this beautiful fish die and think of the damsel biting him at night in the dark. Before I would replace him, I'd set up a third salt water tank for less aggressive fish. Thank you all for your help too.

Clownfish all of a suddon sick

Mine sleep on their side at top of tank To look at them in the morning you'd think they were dead. One likes to also sleep near the water intake going to back of nano- I guess he likes the water brushing past him as he sleeps. They take a good 30 minutes to wake up and get active. Could your...

    Firefish dying?

The firefish has passed away The fish died in spite of my best efforts to help him. I think the damsel did attack him, because his tail fin looked bitten. He was a passive sweet little fish. I was told he would be ok with the fish I have but evidently i have one of the more agressive damsels...

    Firefish dying?

I have a 24 Gal Nano with 2 clown, one purple/yellow damsel, one red scooter goby and a firefish. The firefish has been in the tank about 1 month and was doing fine. Today I found him on the floor of the tank, thought he was dead. He started swimming but then laid on the rocks. It looks like...

    Hammerhead shrinking

At this point I'm buying copepods and also was told they'd benefit from Roti Feast so I got him a bottle of that too. The Hammerhead is coming back slowly. It's about double the size it was when I moved it. It's still 1/2 as big as when I got it but it seems to be improving daily. The other...

    Hammerhead shrinking

Well, now we know! Thanks for the assistance. I still wasn't 100% sure even after looking at the pictures posted. They both look a lot alike (hammer and frogspawn)

    Hurt anenome

patience is what I've been told it takes and I am working on being more patient than with my fresh water aquariums - they are so easy compared to salt water. My fresh water fish are healthy and happy. They know me and I get so much pleasure from them. I hope to have the same with my salt...

    Hurt anenome

Thanks- I'll get new lights I think I need to upgrade the whole tank, with new lights, add wave maker and a protein skimmer. This ten gal was originally just for fresh water fish. I have an empty 30 gal I can set up and do a fishless cycle and then add the 2 fish and the anemone. I'll get good...

    Hurt anenome

I checked (it was PetSmart) and it doesn't say how many watts. It does say it's floresent and has aluminum backing to give greater light. I also open the blinds to let in sunlight on tank. The tank has fine live sand 2.5 inches of substrate and about 10 lb live rock. Here is the link to the...

    Hammerhead shrinking

Photos of Hammerhead (frogspawn) I'll let the community weigh in on identifying this coral. I've taken 2 photos- one so you can see what else is around him and another closer up. To the Mandarin Goby issue - he is a Green Mandarin Goby - Pterosynchiropus splendidus and yes the LFS said he...

    Hammerhead shrinking

The top one It looks like the one with the Clown fish in it. I actually got mine hoping my 2 Ocealaris Clowns would take to it. The guy I got it from said he had a clown that liked to live in it. I wanted a Pink tip but found out that was dangerous to coral so I have my pink tip in a 10 gal...

    Hammerhead shrinking

I'm confused about what he is myself! The seller (a private person) told me he is a hammerhead frogspawn. I went to the LFS and my coral looks just like their frogspawn. The tips are in a hammerhead shape-an elogated head (instead of round) and green. His stalks are light beige. He is very...

Newbie- thread stuff- like saliva in tank

I am finding long threads hanging off the wires to my wavemaker and protein skimmer and off my live rock When I try to get it out it is like thick saliva and breaks up. I can get it out with a net or wrap it around a bottle brush but then when I look again, there is more of it. It doesn't look...

    Hammerhead shrinking

More supplements than I need Yes, it does seem like when I ask for information the answer always involves buying something- I probably have more supplements than I'll ever need. I was told they 'can't get too much calcium' so even if I put in extra it wouldn't hurt. Don't know if that's true. I...

    Hurt anenome

I'm not certain how many watts but will check at Petco where i purchased the hood. I am now keeping the blinds open for sunlight to get in also- is this ok for them? It's cold here in Chicago and the sun is not warming the tanks

    Hammerhead shrinking

Also to HoCkEyGmC, yes, the tank is cycled, and I have now given h2o parameters (all except calicum which was 400 last week, I'll test again after H20 change today) My other corals are 3 mushrooms about the size of a 50 cent piece, one mushroom about the size of a dime, one finger leather about...

    Hammerhead shrinking

Thanks! I tested for ammonia- none, and nitrates - none, my water PH is 8.4, my salinity is 1.025. My temp is 77 degrees. I agree it is a big bio-load but I do have 35 lb of live rock in the tank and in the back of tank along with the normal nano-cube sponge, charcol pack and ceramic rings...

    Hammerhead shrinking

I got about 3 in wide specimin of hammerhead from another enthusiast. It was nicely inflated when I got it. It has shrunk a lot in 2 weeks and I fear it may die. I have moved it once to get it more water motion from my little wave maker. I feed my corals 5 drops of Iodide daily, calcium and...

    How to post new thread

I'd like to ask a question about my hammerhead coral which is shrinking but I don't see any new thread button on the pages under the link about fishes and coral problems. How do I post a new thread in this section? Thanks,
