Here are some updated pics of my 29 gallon. I emptied out about 80% of the water today, turned it around, and spray painted the back. I think that it looks so much better. I also trimmed my hygrophila difformis and removed my microswords (the diatoms were too much for them). Here is a picture...

    Painting an already set-up tank.

So I think I want to put a background on my already set up 29 gallon tank. I really like the look of paint and want to know if there is safe to paint the tank while it is set up. Any suggestions on how to do this or if it would or would not be a good idea?

    HELP! Bump on goldfish

I have noticed one of my goldfish hanging out in the back of the tank behind the plants recently. Today while cleaning my tank I noticed that he had a huge bump on one of his sides by the gills. Can anyone tell me what this is, how and if it can be treated, and is it contagious?

    ALGAE Identification

    CO2 Diffuser

I was looking at some glass/ceramic CO2 diffusers on ebay and I have some questions. Would the nano kind be OK to use in my 29 gallon tank? One of the items said for use up to 20 gallons and the other said up to 30 and they were both roughly the same size. Also, If I need a bigger one...

So I corrected my nutrient problem, I am decreasing my lighting, and I just got a new kind of algae. It is brown algae and it is on the lower leaves of my wisteria, some of my gravel, and my microsword and java fern. I leave my lights on for about 12 hours a day. My nitrate levels were about...

    Hyrogen peroxide

So after fixing my nutrient problem I decide to treat my plants with Hydrogen peroxide to help kill the algae faster. My microswords are really covered in the stuff and I am afraid that the might die. Anyways, I used about 30 mL for my 29 gallon tank. I just dumped it in the water. My question...

    Dry Ferts and Tap Water???

So I got my ferts yesterday, and I started making my solutions. I read on a website that you can use tap water for these solutions, as long as the water does'nt contain any of the nutrients you are adding because it will throw off your percentages. So I tested my tap water for nitrate, and it...

I have been looking around on and found a lot of info on this topic, but everyones opinion seems to be split. Some say it is fine for Goldfish, and some say it isn't. Air pump in planted tank??

I know that you shouldn't have an air pump running during the day because it removes CO2 from the water, but I was reading somewhere that you should turn one on at night to remove the extra CO2 that the plants produce during the night. Is this a good thing to do, or is it unnecessary? Thanks...
