What are some nice websites to get SW equipment?

I have used www.marinedepot.com and www.drsfostersmith.com for most of my equipment. For lights use www.hellolights.com and for your RO unit ebay is the best place for that equipment.

Star fish climbing side of tank

Thanks, that is what I thought also. I have put him my refuge tank for now. There are lots of PODS in there for him to eat.

Star fish climbing side of tank

I have a sand sifting starfish that continues to climb up the corner of the tank to the top. Could it be that he is looking for more food? Tank has been running for about three months now. This behavior just started this week. The starfish has been in the tank for the last four weeks.

finding a good online source for live rock

I am very lucky, my LFS had some great LR. I picked up some 20 to 30 inch pieces that had great color and was fully cured. The price was a little high ($10 per pound), but it was the best that I had gotten so far. I purchase from three different places off the Internet and none of the rock...

    Snow on my live rock

Great article, I will up my water changes now that I have better water. So much to learn, but it is all good. I did stop dosing three weeks ago when my CA shot up so high; beginners mistake. Will the SNOW go away after the CA is returned to normal?

    Snow on my live rock

I was dosing, thought that was the right thing to do. Still new at this. I am using Red Sea Salt for my salt brand, have used that brand since first day. I am doing 15 percent water changes each week, but now that I have the RO device making water I can increase the water change amount this...

    Snow on my live rock

I am using a SEATEST test kit to test the CA. Is the Calcium Precip a bad thing or do I need to clean it off the rock?

    Snow on my live rock

I noticed today when I came home from work that I have what appears to be snow growing on my new live rock. Is this a good thing or should I brush it off? Current tank readings are as follows; tank been setup for around 70 days. Salt 1.026 Temp 80.6 NH3 0.25 No2 0.3 NO3 10 PO4 0.2 CA...

    Feathers have gone

I am still in the process of getting all my LR, I have about 60 pounds right now. My question is some of the LR that I have gotten had some feathers on the rock, but now they are gone. Could it be that my water is not cycled enough in my 120 gallon tank to support the feathers. Current reading...

    ro unit

This is the same unit that I purchased a few weeks ago. Came with pretty good instructions for hooking up everything. I did not use the little tank or facet that came with it though. I also had to get a hose and some fittings from Home Depot to connect my garden hose into the input side of the...

    Cost for Your SW Setup

Hmm using your view of this situation it looks like I may be able to have three tanks in the house instead of two. That would be cool. We will have to see how this goes over with the wife. Thanks,

    Cost for Your SW Setup

Fishfreek, It will when the wife want a "Special" looking one. Round quarter tank for the living room. Tank and stand cost $800. Thank goodness the tank is one of those with the built in sump, skimmer and overflow built into the back of the tank.

    Cost for Your SW Setup

Since July 2003 when my wife bought me a 120 gallon tank I figure we have the following invested so far. We still are going to be getting a 50 gallon quar. tank, which will cost us another $1,000 at least. O-well have to spend our money on something as we get older. $1200 Tank, stand, hood...

    rotating powerhead

Thanks fishfreek, I think my next solution would be some small submersable pumps toward the bottome of the tank with rotating tubes on them. Seems like there is always some part of the tank that has dead water in it.

    rotating powerhead

Who else makes a rotating power head? I have only seen ZooMed Powersweeps.

    Ro/Di Filter questions

You might want to look around for a rain barrel. I got a 55 gallon PVC rain barrel, because of the insulation qualities of the barrel it is much easier to keep the temperature in sync with my main tank.

    rotating powerhead

Has anyone got any advice on some good rotating powerheads. I was thinking about putting a few of these in my tank to prevent having any calm spots in my tank. I currently have two Maxi Jet MP 900 power heads, but after reading some of the other post I realized that these may not be doing a good...
