Aqueon 55 HOB sucks....Too much noise.

I remember an Aqueon HOB coming with my 55 gallon when I first got it. I had my tank set up close to where I sleep and it was awful at night. I ended up getting some filter floss and just stuffing it inside of the filter to disrupt most of the splashing noise it was making, and that kept...

    Just found my pleco!!

I've been putting in blanched romaine lettuce from our garden every couple days and my BN Plecos seem to really enjoy it. So does my Rainbow Shark. I'm going to try zucchini tomorrow actually to see how he likes it.

    Just found my pleco!!

The craziest thing just happened to me a few minutes ago so I had to make a post about it! So back in May of this year, I bought a tiny little Rubber Lipped Pleco for my 55 gallon tank, and a day after I added him to the tank my girlfriend and I headed to New York to visit some of her family...

    Dalmation mollies soon

I may be interested in getting rid of the male, but not sure yet. I'll know more by the end of this week probably, as I'm going to consider getting a new tank to start cycling and possibly separate my adults. Forgive me for asking such a dumb question, but I've never had to quote a shipping...

    Dalmation mollies soon

I actually live sort of close (about an hour away) from Elmer's Aquarium. I've thought about calling them to see if they accept fry, but I haven't gotten around to doing so because I just dread driving that far to get rid of a handful of fish, lol. I'll probably call them this week though to...

Will the male be alright by himself or will he get lonely not having any other mollies to stay with?

    Dalmation mollies soon

I don't really want to put anything else into my 55 gallon, so sadly that is not really an option. That's why I'm looking to separate the parents and then hopefully find homes for my current fry.

    Dalmation mollies soon

Well, right now in my 12 gallon I have 5 Neon Tetras, 3 GloFish Danios, 2 Peppered Corydoras, and 1 Otocinclus. If I separated my mollies I would be putting my one male in to that tank. I'm not too concerned about the molly being compatible with the other fish in the tank, I just don't want...

    Dalmation mollies soon

I'm trying to think of a temporary solution to stop my mollies from breeding for a while until I can get rid of my current fry and then get a better solution in to place. The only other tank I have right now is a 12 gallon with some neon tetras, glofish, and cory cats in it. I was thinking of...

    Dalmation mollies soon

I've thought about craigslist before, but I live in an extremely small town that is pretty out of the way of any major city, so usually no one close to me ever browses craigslist for anything. I've tried selling other things in the past on there and no one has ever responded.

    Dalmation mollies soon

Just bumping this thread again to see if anyone else happens to be interested at this time. My first two batches of fry are still growing well and doing great, but I'm still searching for homes for them as I don't have another tank ready to put them in right now. One of my females also just...

    Dalmation Molly fry

I actually just ended up leaving all of my fry in my tank. None of them have died or been nipped at by any of the other fish. They just completely ignore them, it's kind of cool. The first batch of them are now bigger than large neon tetras and still doing just fine.

Sounds good! I'll try to get some updated photos of them in the coming week or two.

Need some creative ideas for a 46 gallon!

Yeah, I'll probably do that shortly. For now, continue on with your ideas though, Cichlids or otherwise! :D

Need some creative ideas for a 46 gallon!

Woo, that makes me even more excited about a Cichlid tank now! I may have to refine my original post to say give me your best suggestions for an African Cichlid tank! haha.

Need some creative ideas for a 46 gallon!

I'm totally down with the Cichlid suggestions, but I was under the impression that you needed a slightly larger tank if you wanted to keep Cichlids -- confirm/deny?

Need some creative ideas for a 46 gallon!

Piranhas would definitely be really cool to have and feed, but I have absolutely -no- idea where the heck I would find any around here, haha.

Need some creative ideas for a 46 gallon!

So I'm probably going to be buying a 46 gallon bow front tank in the near future and I thought it would be fun to let some of you on here decide what I put into it. I am sure there are a lot of really creative minds on these forums so I'd like to see what some of you can come up with as far as...

    Dalmation mollies soon

A found a friend of my mom who is starting up a tank for her daughter and she offered to take some once she gets her tank going. I told her I wouldn't give her any fish until I knew the tank was set up and cycled properly because I don't want to subject any of my fish to dangerous habitats like...

    From beginning to End

I always enjoy watching people set up their new tanks from start to finish, especially with big salt water setups. I will definitely be following you from now on and I look forward to your next set of updates and photos. Good luck man!

    Questions??

First off, let me just inform you now in case you did not already know -- silver-tipped sharks can grow to be quite large over time (12-18 inches max). A tank as small as yours is nowhere near big enough for them once they grow to their full adult size, so hopefully you have plans in the future...

Can't get nitrates under control - need drastic action

That test kit should be fine. That is the same nitrate test kit that is included in API's freshwater master test kit, which also includes tests for pH, ammonia, and nitrite as well. The main thing you want to stay away from when it comes to test kits are those strip tests, they are usually...

    Dalmation mollies soon

I asked my local PetSmart, but they said they are not allowed to take fish from anyone. The only real LFS that isn't a chain store is over an hour drive from me, so I haven't gotten a chance to go there yet to check with them. I think I'll probably start setting up a new tank next week to put...

    Dalmation mollies soon

Just a quick bump to this thread. My Molly fry are continuing to grow and gradually getting a more defined color pattern to them as well. I just thought I'd check one more time to see if anyone happened to be interested in any of them, as I haven't been too lucky yet in finding anyone local to...

first time tropical tank with dieing fish part two

I agree with what everyone else has said about your test results. A nice 50% water change should put your numbers back in check and then close monitoring of them from them on out to make sure that your numbers don't start climbing back up over the week would be a good thing to watch for. Once...
