    Skimmer Question

I have the same skimmer. To adjust how much material you skim is directly related to the input water. This skimmer requires you to feed water from the overflow into the chamber. This connection must be adjusted to reduce or increase the flow until it is producing foam. Once you get bubbles...

    Can I remove bioballs?

The principal of the sock it to remove bio load. That is how you reduce nitrates. Changing the sock only takes a few minutes, the same as cleaning the protein skimmer cup. The more material you remove the less your bacteria has to eat. The principal is to get the load equal to the bacteria...

    Can I remove bioballs?

You do not need rubble, as long as you have LR. The rubble will collect the same trash as the bio-balls. Just use the 25 micron sock, protein skimmer, carbon and do weekly water changes.

    Can I remove bioballs?

You do not need bio-balls or rubble in the sump. Your LR will be enough to take care of all our bacteria needs. You do how ever need a good protein skimmer, the best you can afford. Run it 24/7. In addition get a 25 micron sock that needs to be installed at the intake to the sump. This needs to...

    Rock question

It is not illegal to collect drift wood as long as you don't saw pieces off the existing trees in the surf. Unless you are going to the Keys there's not a lot of rock on the beaches. There is rock in the intercoastal that was placed there for erosion protection, but I would never place it in a...

    Lighting reflector

I am replacing my two VHO bulbs and do not have a reflector on my hood. I keep a FO tank, but am thinking about converting. I made the entire hood of white formica a long time ago. I searched the web for a new reflector, which go for around $40 (aluminum). I know that is not a lot, but seems hi...

    RO/DI Question

I highly recommend the RO/DI from the Canada website. The owner is Ed and he will answer any questions you have. I got a complete 100 gpd system for $119.00. I know the site is sponsored by AQUAfx, but they cant come close to that price. My water quality went from 216 TDS to 3 TDS and I see a...
