Thanks for the input guys. I do have two canister filters...so the in-line CO2 reactor idea is workable. Does this negate the use of diffusers? I've read statements from others that have said that using the canister filter as a dispersal method can be a problem if there is a power failure. Water...
CO2 for 135 gal low light planted tank
I am having some difficulty finding info on co2 for a 135 gal tank. I have 195 watts of light...wanted more but cant afford the $700 plus price tags for a lighting system. So, I guess my first question is: would my tank benefit from a co2 system? I was...
I need to move a 135 gal glass tank (200 lbs). I have looked at suction cups with handles that supposedly have a 280 lbs lift capacity and are used for glass. I am worried that if I just have a couple of big guys lift it by hand, they will rack the tank around and possible pop the seals. Has...
Hi guys!
I bought an Eheim 2028 canister for my 135 gal freshwater tank (a work in progress). I was discussing filtration with my local Aquarium store and was told I really should get two Eheim 2028's for my 135 gal tank. I intend to plant it. But, do I really need two Eheim 2028 filters?? One...
AquariumPlants.com's own: Freshwater Planted Aquarium Substrate
Has anyone used this product? It seems kind of expensive. I was looking at play sand, then read an article that said that play sand is too fine and will smother the plant roots. Any sand suggestions?
OK...so I have some similar questions. I have a 135 gal that I am putting back together after a 5 year hiatus. I used to use an under gravel filter and had a single fluorescent 48" tube light. I had some type of sword grass that grew like a weed, but nothing else grew well. So now I am hearing...
I have had my 135 gal glass tank for many years. It came with a 48" 40w flourescent tube light in a 72" narrow light hood. This fixture is shot. I found many burn marks in the plastic. I have been looking at new lighting and am appalled at the pricing (some of the prices being just short of the...
LOL! Good answer...I like that! I've been thinking of asking some of the MMA guys at the dojo to help. I'm sure they could be enticed for a six pack or two.
Thanks for the input. I appreciate it. I'll see how it goes. I'm a little squirt so my lifting capacity is somewhat limited. It was set up for me in the begining...but on a small platform only 6" high. Once I have it cleaned out I can get a better sense on what it is going to take to lift it up...
Thanks for the info. I found some on Amazon.com. They'll lift 350 lbs. My husband is worried that lifting them with suction cups could rack the frame around and cause the tank to leak. How tough is a 125 gal glass tank? I wouldn't think they would be that fragile.
Ummm...I know this is an old post, but what kind of suction cups are you talking about? I have a **** of a time moving my empty 125 gal glass tank around. I have been using 6" dia. aluminum conduit to roll it around on. Kind of like moving stones for a pyramids. I have been trying to figure out...
Thanks for all of the input. You guys are great! I think I'll go with the Eheim. Their upper end models look like they'd do the job for a 125 gal tank.
This is the second story I've read regarding leaking Eheim canister filters. I was thinking about getting an Eheim 2217 for my 125 gal tank. I've always used UGF in the past. Does anyone know...is this a big issues for these filters? Are there better ones I should be considering (that are less...
I have a 125 gal tank that I am reestablishing after a five year hiatus. I had a RUGF that worked just fine. For 15 years in fact. The only problem I had with it was having to hoover the gravel once a month. Plus, I had to totally redo the tank twice. Now I have friends who are saying UGF's are...
