I have a live bearer tank with a beta and 6 types of fish and a total of 27 fish and my beta does not bother any of the fish. Except during feeding time when he is really hungry he will flare up so the other fish will give him a chance to eat lol.

If it is a pond with a filter just clean the filter and run it for like 5 hours then clean it again and run it for another 5 hours until it is finally gone. Also you can buy pond safe algae remover but all the dead algae will probably clog up your filter so make sure you clean it constantly...

This is just an update but I just started to chisel and hammer my slate so I can make it "aquarium size" and there were tons of metallic sparkles all over the ground when I was done. I ran a magnet over them and it did not pick any of the little sparkle things up. I washed the slate real well...

I took a sledge hammer to the rock and broke a few small pieces off and did the vinegar test and nothing happened. Should that mean it passes that test?

Is there any other tests I should do before putting it in my tank?

I decided to pour the vinegar all over the rock and nothing happened either, it all ran off of course but at least there was no fizzing lol

Do I need to break a piece off to do the test or should that have worked?

I did the vinegar test in like 1/2 an inch of vinegar and it was only the base of the rock in the container. And nothing happened, no fizzing and it has been sitting for about 5 minutes. Does that mean it's safe?

I took a magnet to it and I don't think that there was any attraction at all. And if there was it was very very very faint. Is there anything else I can do? Or should it be safe?
