    Something on my snail shell

GREAT! Thanks for identifying my snail's friend! I tried to do some research on barnacles and saw these 2 links on the forums: http://www.esuweb.com/cardfile.asp?ItemNumber=88129&IDProductRelationship=115 http://www.vattenkikaren.gu.se/fakta/arter/crustace/cirriped/semibala/semiba1e.html Now...

    Something on my snail shell

Well, observing this little guy I noticed that it in fact is alive, it seems to filter feed and when I turn on the flashlight the little shell snaps shut. Can a clam grow on a snail shell?

    Something on my snail shell

I messed around with the settings and got this picture, a bit better. I used the macro setting on my FujiFilm 2600Z

    Something on my snail shell

Maybe somebody can give me some camera advice.... how can I get a clearer close-up without the picture getting fuzzy? Seems I have to stand back to get a clear picture but then I lose the details.

    Something on my snail shell

Here's a pic, it's not great but maybe it will help, you can see it near the bottom of the shell. http://www.aquariumadvice.com/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=2015

    Something on my snail shell

Could anybody help me ID what is on my snail shell. It sort of looks like a half clam/scallop shell that has an orangish/yellowish colour. It's growing as the snail grows and sometimes I think it is lifted up about 1 mm and today I saw my blue damsel take a whack at it and then leave it along...

    Black Ich... maybe?

Yeah, I guess I play the waiting game now.

    Black Ich... maybe?

I guess may main question is still do you guys think this is black ich or not? I've read in a book they stay on the fish for 5 to 6 days and the fish would be scratching, I don't want to start treating for black ich if that's not what it is. I also wanted to mention how great these forums are...

    Black Ich... maybe?

yeah I read that too. How long did you have the worms on your tang before they fell off? The spots were on my tang minimum 12 hours maximum 24 hours

    Black Ich... maybe?

I was thinking about a cleaner shrimp but isn't it bad to put a shrimp in so soon after this last addition? Also seeing that they were not there this morning where do they go?

    Black Ich... maybe?

Can somebody offer their opinion if this is black ich or not. From what I read it sounds like it but not all the symptoms follow. I got a yellow tang and 2 snails on Friday, and unfortunately I don't have a quarantine setup, I'm going to look at this hopefully in the new year. Tuesday night I...

    tangs clowns and damsels

My tang is doing much better now, it seemed to just a matter of the fish adjusting. The tang is swimming around and the damsel doesn't harass it as much anymore. Looks like they worked it out all on their own. :D

    tangs clowns and damsels

I have a similar setup. I just introduced a yellow tang yesterday that has a clown fish, blue damsel, and a 3 striped damsel, which is aggressive and all over the tang. Today I noticed damage to his fins from the damsel nipping at him. The tang is basically isolated in one corner/side of the...

    Water Changes & Replacement

Are there any rules of thumb for water changing? I'm replacing evaporated water on a weekly basis and then replacing 25% of the water monthly. My only concern is with the water being added changed are you losing all the beneficial bacteria and what not? :?

    Lawnmower Benny looking sick

Yeah, I have no idea on how old he/she was. The temp is at 25C and the salinity is around 1.022, the blenny was my favourite fish too.

    Lawnmower Benny looking sick

Unfortunetly he has just passed away. He seemed fine just yesterday and I noticed his odd behaviour tonight. I want to thank you all for your quick replies. We bought the tank used with everything included, it's been going for about 3 months now, so I'm pretty much a newbie learning along the...

    Lawnmower Benny looking sick

My lawnmower benny is looking like he might be dying. There are no visible signs of disease that I can see. He is laying on his side and back and seems to be struggling to swim. Can anybody help me in diagnosing and helping. We recently checked the water conditions and they tested fine.
