I've found hairgrass to work well for me..... Its a fairly fast growing plant although it can clog up with gunk and dirt fairly easily. It doesnt require a massive ammount of light and does well without added co2.... although it will grow thicker, quicker and taller with co2. let us know...

its plain old 3mm! works quite well! although i wish i had used an even finer grain black substrate... tetras and discus come off looking awesome against a dark black background :)

its actualy an australian native called Eusteralis stellata.... dunno if its available around your neck of the woods? hope it is cos its a really impressive plant (check out Travis' Mbuna tank to see what can be done with it :) ) if you do manage to find it..... don't listen to...

Thanks for the comments... the other school of fish are glowlights.... they always stick to the left hand side of the tank..... the cardinals on the right...... and the rummies do laps all day long :P i've been watching your updates..... your tank has so much...

i'll just have to treat the whole tank.. as for the bacteria in the filter dying off... i can do their work manually by doing say 20%? water changes every day? think i might pick up a few test kits as well :) thanks fruitbat!! :)

hi again guys... about a week ago i lost my first fish for 3 months, a molly, to an infection towards the tail of the fish... even after medicating with anti biotics and doing 3 water changes i lost another 6 fish to this weird white patch which would grow on their caudal peduncle...

ok, the latest rummy just died... theres a hi res pic of it here.. although it didnt come out too clear.. you can c how the back half of the body is a different shade.. and the tail is kind of pink.. ignor the clamped fins, yesterday this was the biggest and healthiest rummy i had...
