The stick on temperature things are not the most accurate. I would go buy a better thermometer to check to make sure that your stick on one is close to the proper temp.

you don't need to buy mated clowns... just get two small clowns and one will get big and they will pair up... I have done it twice and they are awesome.

Feed the flake to the bucket and see if you get any movement.

    Hitchhiker ID please

I would put some food in the bucket and watch for it... if the thing comes out and is waving in the air it is probably a brittle star... if it doesn't come out then I would watch it at night so I could get a better idea of what it is.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sea-Monkeys Most brine shrimp (and sea monkeys) come as cysts... kinda like eggs only they last longer and can live in harsh conditions... They are hatched eggs that have gone into a "hibernation" state.

Sea Monkeys are an artificial breed. They are hybridized brine shrimp.

    Carey's LAST Build- 125g Reef

Probably long as it would allow more side to side swimming room for the larger fish in QT.

    Carey's LAST Build- 125g Reef

If you are not going to treat everything then I would QT in the 55 for supervision and if they develop symptoms I would move them to a smaller tank for treatment, once treatment has completed I would put it back into the 55g (after cleaning and "sterilizing" the 55g) Unless you would like to...

    Carey's LAST Build- 125g Reef

If you are not treating your fish I suggest you keep them in the QT longer rather then shorter. A fish can be infected and not show signs for the first week or more. Most importantly, watch your fish closely in a QT to make sure that they are okay and haven't started to develop any signs of...

    Carey's LAST Build- 125g Reef

The reason for QT your fish for 2 months is to let the display have no fish in it. Most parasites can't survive without a host so if you QT your fish and treat them, then they are usually not infected after about 2 weeks, but your tank can remain infected for longer while the parasites search...

    320g build/journey/experiment :-)

I buy a big $20 can of them and then just add the cysts to the tank they hatch within 20 min to an hour (some take longer). But if you have a skimmer or UV or something like that it can/will, take out/kill your brine shrimp.

    320g build/journey/experiment :-)

Ya I came up with the idea myslef.... I'm not sure if the brine shrimp would eat them or not, but brine shrimp are filter feeders and they filter out usually phytoplankton but they do eat other things of similar size (eg. egg yolk, yeast, and bacteria). Phytoplankton ranges in size from 50µm...

    320g build/journey/experiment :-)

So after 10 days there is no sign of Ich... I believe that a combination of three things saved my fish and put the Ich into remission. 1. Lots of Skunk cleaners... I have six or seven Skunk cleaners in my tank and they service most of my fish well, some of them are very bold, jumping onto a...

And pods will eat some algae so if your algae isn't really growing it's possible that the pods are eating the algae that ate the nitrates.

My 72 gallon BF tank journey

As I said I have two Fire shrimp and several skunk cleaners. They haven't had any "bad blood" between them in my tank... Things I read also say that they should be okay together.

My 72 gallon BF tank journey

I was just saying the way I see it in my tank, and from some others anecdotes is that the Fire Shrimp can't be kept in large groups and that cleaner shrimp tend to be timid, so often you don't get a good response from just 1-2 shrimp of any kind. Since usually the Fire Shrimp shouldn't be kept...
