    Looking for 30" t5ho fixture

I currently use a T5 HO by Coralife in the 30" size (62W total). I picked it up at petmountain.com a few years ago and they're currently going for about $91 there. They are also selling Current 30" fixtures for $71 (48W total). Hope this helps.

What online sites do you use?

I often use petmountain.com and bigalspets.com I'm always searching for competitive prices so I tend to check eBay and Amazon as well to make sure I'm getting reasonable prices.

    Cheap LED solution???

I've just discovered that after doing a bit of research. I have no idea where I got the idea to buy 10,000k lamps for my fixture. I'll be switching those out, but I'm still going to give the LED flood lights a try and I'll definitely post pics. The plants have been in my tank for over a...

    Cheap LED solution???

Thanks for the reply. I agree, there's no point in buying lights twice. I'll be ordering from ebay next week and I'll keep you all posted on the progress of the tank after the addition of the new lights. :)

    Cheap LED solution???

Seeking Advice... Hello everyone. I've been following this discussion for a while because I'm thinking of upgrading to a 75g and I want to use flood lights. However, I'd like to throw some flood lights on my 30g (24x24x12) planted tank to test things out. My idea is to throw 4 10w flood...

My Cory's Laid Eggs....Just Wanted to Share

I have a few regular Cory cats and some emerald cats. Not sure which ones laid eggs yet.

My Cory's Laid Eggs....Just Wanted to Share

I thought they looked a little weird too, LOL. I'm wondering if the spots will disappear. None of my Cory cats are spotted. The little guys are not at all shy. They've Ben swimming all over the tank. :-) I think I was just lucky with saving them. I really thought the clown loaches had eaten all...

My Cory's Laid Eggs....Just Wanted to Share

Sorry about the delay with posting the photos, but I had a bit of cell phone trouble, lol. Here are the ones that I could grab. They're still rather small and quick. The pics are not that great, but I hope you can get an idea of what they look like. The pic with the two fish in the white bowl...

My Cory's Laid Eggs....Just Wanted to Share

Well two baby's survived. I waited for a while to clean my filter because that's where I usually find survivors. Well I was right, there were two baby Cory cats hanging out in the filter. I'll post pics in a sec. The cats are now spawning regularly and especially after adding cold water.

My Cory's Laid Eggs....Just Wanted to Share

LOL. I didn't think they were this happy. I had some petrified wood laying around and used it to make the largest section of eggs inaccessible. The gouramis and clown loaches were already checking out the eggs. This may allow a few to survive.

My Cory's Laid Eggs....Just Wanted to Share

My cory's were exhibiting some strange behavior this morning, but I thought they were just playing. When I returned this evening I found eggs all over the tank. :) It's a community tank and I'm not sure how many will survive but I thought this was cool and I wanted to share. I've got 8...

How Much Light Do I Really Have? I'm Confused

I currently have the anacharis and the amazon sword planted, but the sword isn't doing so well. I knew I was going to go through a cycle after I changed my substrate to ecocomplete and replaced the hob filter with the xp2. I've been doing regular partial water changes to combat the nitrate...

How Much Light Do I Really Have? I'm Confused

Thanks for the quick responses everyone. The lights cannot be controlled individually. I have ordered Seachem Flourish and Excel (just in case) from an online store. Right now I'm using LeafZone and I'm not that impressed. I thought about just keeping one 6700k or the 10000k bulb, but I...

How Much Light Do I Really Have? I'm Confused

Ok everyone. I took your advice and went with the T5 High Output fixture for my tank so I could switch to live plants. I purchased a Coralife Fixture, 30", that came with a 10,000k daylight bulb, and the blue actinic bulb. This fixture uses 31 watt bulbs. I'll be replacing the actinic bulb...

    Update onthe planted tank switch...

Lol @Crepe. I'm gonna pace myself and not buy too many at once. I hate to throw anything away, so yes, I'd be the person with the buckets of plants. Unfortunately that's not the real ranunculus inundatus. It probably wouldn't survive in my setup because my ph is about 6.8 and I don't have...

    Update onthe planted tank switch...

I posted a few weeks back about making the switch to a planted tank. I listened to all the advice given and here's the setup I ended up with. I have a 30g tall aquarium Eco Complete as the substrate for 3" depth (got 3 bags online for 15.99 and free shipping) High Output T5 fixture by...

Switching to Planted..A few questions remain

It's 24 inches tall, but if I plant 4 inches of substrate that means the plants will be about 20 inches from the light source.

Switching to Planted..A few questions remain

This is what I was looking at http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ctl3684/cp57011/si2949181/cl0/currentusanovaextreme242x24wt510000ksaltwater and you're right, all of the 24" T5 fixtures are for 24w bulbs. Thanks for the info Crepe, I'll check out the Hagen setup and the MH option. Would it...

Switching to Planted..A few questions remain

Thanks for the help. Any recommendations on the fixture. I've been buzzing around on bigalsonline looking at the 24" T5HO fixtures but I can't find the wattage for the lights. Is there a standard wattage for the T5HO lights?

Switching to Planted..A few questions remain

I've decided to switch to a planted tank from a fish only tank. I've read all of the stickies and have been to plantgeek, etc. So with that said, I still have a few lingering questions. The tank is a 30G xtra high. The dimensions of the tank are 24x12.25x24.75. The tank has been established...

    Dwarf Goumari in a 33Gal?

In the honey gouramis that I have, the female is slightly larger and has a rounder belly. Her coloring also isn't as strong as the males. The two males in the tank have a very striking almost orange clolor to them, and they have both developed a black stripe that runs from their mouth along...

    Dwarf Goumari in a 33Gal?

I have 3 honey gouramis in my tank right now. It's a 30g high tank and it also contains 6 platys, 7 neon tetras, and a cory cat. I've had one male for about a year, and the others (1 m, 1f) for about 8 months. I haven't had any issues so far. I didn't want the 2m:1f ratio, but they guy at the...

Platy is dropping 1 fry at a time, days apart?

I've tried doing some research on this and I've come up with nothing. In my tank I have 6 orange platys (1 M, 5 F), 3 Honey Gourami (1 F, 2 M), 6 Neon Tetras, 1 Cory Cat, 1 Golden Inca Snail and 3 mystery snails. Long story short, I got the platys from someone who was overrun with pregnant...
