my tank is a 55... when i moved i put half the water in a new trash can... it was like 22 gallons.. so i got almost half the water saved.... my ammonia test is liquid..so ill have to invest in the other ones as well.. and yes silent night i have been..
i have all kinds... 2 angels, 4 tiger barbs, a tetra, 2 bella sharks, a frog, a cat fish, 2 skelton catfish, a britcher, loach... its been up for over a year now, but i have recently moved twice back to back about 3 months ago..
so i've had problems with my tank not cycling. the ammonia was BAD. i've been doing 50% water changes daily for about a week now and finally the ammonia is very very low if any(yayyyyy!). but now the water is getting foggy. is this a bacteria bloom? does that mean the cycling is almost over?
So i put a forum up the other day for help with my tank, my test strips came up :
nitrate - was high
nitrite- was 0
hardness- is very hard
alkalinity- very low
pH- is very very low my my test lowest one is 6.4 but i think its lower than that
ammonia- VERY high
everybody told me to do 50%...
im using a bio wheel 350. wont doing 50% water changes slow down cycling tho? my pet store always told me just to leave it alone that it wont cycle if i keep changing the water.
its been that way for like a month now... maybe longer.. i cannot get it to cycle... in my other forum they told me to do a 50% change to help with ammonia bcc 10% doesnt do anything...

yeah the tetra i had 2 more but when i moved the 1st time i got fin rot and it killed them. And the shark and bircher i already know when they get to big i gotta get rid of them. And i have the Bio wheel i believe the 350... it was the one that was meant for a 75 gallon.
So I've had my 55 gallon tank for about a year now, and to be honest its been a HUGE head ache!! I dont know if my tanks ever been fully cycled, it seems like i have more trouble than anything. I have fish in there and they seem to do fine but if i add another it will die within a day or two. My...
