    LFS water

i wouldn't do it, and not because your local fish store water is bad, but because anytime a fish is bagged and moved it gets stressed and defacates and releases urine in the bag which is not something u would want to add in your tank. We've already got enough to worry about with our tank. Why...

    Some people don't listen

working in a fish store, i know exactly what ur going through, i had a customer with a 55 gallon and had already stocked it with 5 or 6 fish 1 week after setting it up after the advice of the local petsmart. I told him not to add anything else until his cycle is complete but he got mad and...

new to saltwater getting mixed advice

i even did the airstone mod on the skilter and it was still useless, and one day decided to dump about 5 gallons of water on the floor, which in a two story house is not a good thing. IMO I would just go with the remora that everyone recommends

new to saltwater getting mixed advice

stay away from the skilter, worst piece of equipment i've ever owned, and thumper is right about the fish, stay away from them with the exception of the porcupine puffer, but only if u plan on upgrading before he outgrows the tank. If not maybe consider a type of toby

    New xenia farm. Sand depth?

honestly i like dsb's, so i personally would say go more. I don't know a whole lot about xenia's except they can be hard to keep, and will grow toward the light, so if ur trying to start a farm, i would say use very strong lighting and start towards the bottom of the tank so they grow up...

    Foxface rabbitfish? Anybody recognize these?

i would pretty much consider they're space issues the exact same as a tang, they get big and i wouldn't suggest it in anything less than a 4ft. 75, more if possible. Also if u do decide to go ahead with the rabbitfish, be careful because THEY ARE POISONOUS!!! And if u really wanna see a cool...

55 is the death of me

well i just tore the tank down and now i'm restarting, and since i'm restarting might as well do it right. Just went to lowes to get some supplies to build the new canopy and rock support, and just ordered my skimmer, i'll keep u guys informed as i get it put back together

55 is the death of me

no, i trust the store because i work there, i hold all fish i buy there for at least a month, and i definitely know how to spot ich and all of that sort, so its not my selection

55 is the death of me

Well after 5 years i'm tearing down the 55. The last 7 fish i've added over the last 6 months have not survived. The maroon clown and yellow tang and corals have lasted for awhile with no problems, and no the yellow tang and clown are not picking on the newcomers. There's no sign of nitrates...

Which is better, the True Perc or the False Clownfish???

i believe the maroon is the same as the spine-cheek clownfish, the maroon is in the premnas family because it is the only clownfish to have spines. Both the white and yellow stripe maroon are Premnas biaculeatus

to aerate or not to aerate

now i've heard people say no sand sifters, but what's the reason? Do they dig too deep?

to aerate or not to aerate

when dealing with a DSB, is it better to have a lot of creatures moving it around or to not mess with it at all. I just read an article that was a couple of years old that stated the deep sand bed's function is destroyed when it is constantly moved, but the marine biologist at our store says...

    starting a fish store

if ur looking for your main tanks, Dutch Aquarium Systems have a lot of great looking setups and even sell good used units. We have them in our store and they look great. Again with the maintenances, its going to be the lifeblood of your store and what pays the bills, everything else in the...

    i love mr kole!!!

yeah i know, but i do have a 115 getting ready to set up, and the kole isn't very big, and there's no aggression, so i think i'll be fine till the new tank is ready to go

    newbe needs advice

but on that long of a tank, u don't think enough pc's to stretch across would cost too much. It might be cheaper to just throw on a couple of 6' NO's, or if for coraline maybe even a couple of VHO's

    picasso trigge

i've seen a trigger pull out spines of an urchin, and i've also seen them eat bristleworm after bristleworm, so i don't think the spines are gonna stop them. If you wanna keep the trigger i would suggest making a predator tank and investing in a good scraper and algae mop.

    Sting Ray Wont Eat

we have yellow stingray's at the store, and as everyone said, bare tank, lots of sand. We feed during the day and switch between raw squid and raw prawns. We slice them into mouth size bites.

    i love mr kole!!!

Just drip acclimated my new kole tang for about 3 hours, figured my yellow would've given him some trouble, as soon as i drop him in, he flashes his tail at the yellow, then starts attacking my algae everywhere! Didn't have to turn off the lights, he's not hiding, i love this fish!!!
