    Fish Gasping for Air!!!!

I think the filter was off all night!! Cleaned it last night before bed. I have power bar behind the filter to plug everything. I think when I pushed the filter back I pushed the power button off on the power bar. The lights went off in the tank and I went to bed. Like every morning I...

    Fish Gasping for Air!!!!

My temp is at 78. No change in Nitrite reading after water change. Te fish have stopped gasping for air though. Still have the air stone in. I don't know what kind of rock. I researched putting rocks in your tank and from everything I read all you have to do is clean them thoroughly. Should I...

    Fish Gasping for Air!!!!

Ok my tank is cycling Ammonia 0 Nitrite 1 Nitrate 5... Would a rock cause this? I also put some silk plants in, they were in another tank however have been sitting for months. Doing a pwc right now and I put a stone in to add more O2. I'm a little freaked out! This has never happened before :(

    Fish Gasping for Air!!!!

I have a 44g planted hex with various tetras and a clown pleco. Yesterday I did a 50% pwc and re decorated the tank. I added a river rock I found. Before adding I scrubbed the you know what out of it and soaked it in boiling water a few times. When I woke up this am all my fish are at the top...

    Fish ban in Canada?

Getting a little carried away, IMO!! Guess you could say the same thing about any pet owner that abuses their pet. Maybe the pet stores need to educate their staff more versus hiring the first person who'll take the job!! I live in Alberta and have never heard of any such ban!

    tightest schoolers

Tiger barbs school nice IMO. If you have at least 8 and at least a 55g long tank. Mine would always swim together from one side o the tank to the other.

    tank mates?

It should be fine. Just make sure you have lots if ricks and caves (or a place for the cichilids to hide). Do some research and find out more about how to set up the tank.

    tank mates?

I don't think they will. However there's always a chance, if the sharks are bigger than they will be fine.

    tank mates?

IDK I've had parrot cichilids and tiger barbs together. Never had a bala due to how big they get. I would still recommend a few more tiger barbs.

    tank mates?

IMO and experience with tiger barbs if you have a big enough school they will stick to themselves. That's why I recommend having 10. They will create their own pecking order and only "fight" one another.

    29 gallon stocking plan

I have cherry barbs and an angel. They're fine! Just make sure you have one male to two females.

    tank mates?

Yes your tank is overstocked. Bala sharks get very big. Tiger barbs should be kept in schools of at least 5. Goldfish have a large bioload. As well don't they prefer colder water? Whereas tigers are a warm water tropical fish. I would get rid of all the gold fish and get more tiger barbs (...

    Will these tankmates work?

I would say no. What kind of Plecos? You could have one smaller variety (clown or bristlenose). I think rainbow shark will get too big for your tank. The other fish should be fine although angels need room to swim and prefer a deeper tank.

    Neon Tetra Tankmates

Well I guess I had a mean, hungry bunch...lol..because within 2 hours of putting 8 neons in my tank my 6 tiger barbs had ripped them to shreds!

    Neon Tetra Tankmates

I would not recommend Tiger barbs and neons! My tiger barbs ate all my neons when I mixed them. I think rosy barbs (just make sure you have 2 females to a male)nor lemon tetras. I also like diamond tetras (such a sparkly fish) 2 or 3 of those would be fine.

    Snails on glass.

Haha well good thing :P. Yes an assassin snail is fine. Clown loaches are all cute and small when you first buy them, but grow very fast and have a big bio load. As well they don't like to be alone :(. They also need at least a 125g for swimming.

    Snails on glass.

Please don't buy a clown loach. They should be kept In schools of 5 in a 125g tank! Just pull them of and toss them. Or do the lettuce trick over night and then toss them in the morning. Buying a fish to fix a problem is never a good solution!!

    planting established tank

I've always had gravel. I have java ferns and moss. Sword plants and one more but I'm not sure of the name. I use Seachem root tabs and flourish when I do pwc.

    Changing the tank apearence??

You can try and find a peel and stick protector (Like for your kitchen cupboards) and cut it to match whatever you want to cover :)

    Can I Have A Pleco?

I think a bristle-nose. If you want a good algae eater you could get a Siamese algae eater. I love mine and they keep the plants super clean :)
