That was my solution!! :D As for "colorful" fish, my favorite 2 fish are also my 2 least colorful, they have the best personalities for watching, IMO. They are the panda cory in FW and my lawnmower blenny in my reef.

Why not just use a high quality sheet algae? I would think that if you encouraged algae growth in your tank now, you may be regretting it when it gets out of control later.

How big is the piece of driftwood, because, yes that may be a contributer. I use driftwood in my FW as a means to lower my ph to 6.8 without having to go the peat route.
