Otoclinus , What do they eat when there is no food?

They do best in established, planted, tanks. I give mine some algae waffers once or twice a week, to make sure they are getting enough to eat. Other than that, they are not too tough to keep. Just make sure to keep you water clean, and they should be fine.

    White Stuff on Fish (SD)

0 ammonia , 0 nitrite , and a measurable amount of nitrate means your tank is cycled. Way to go!! :)

    White Stuff on Fish (SD)

You completely misunderstood what I said. Nowhere did I say that I do not consider Pimafix or Melafix meds because they are made from tree oil. I do not consider them meds because they do nothing to cure fish of anything IME.

    White Stuff on Fish (SD)

I'm sorry, you only quoted part of it in your post. I mis-spoke. I have used Melafix and Pimafix. It has never helped with anything for me. From the majority of the reviews I have read, and from people I have spoken with about it,most see it as snake oil. If it has worked for you, that's great...

    White Stuff on Fish (SD)

You failed to link the entire article. If used as directed,it is fine to use. I have used quickcure enough times to know it does not kill fish, or the bacteria. It is a cheap and easy way to get rid of ich. If you have clear silicone, it will stain it blue. I always use it in a QT,so I know...

    High readings! Help

You are very, very overstocked. I would start over with fish that will fit in your tank. The reason you are having water issues is because you are keeping big waste producing fish, in a very small tank. If you do not change your stock, you will always have problems, and eventually dead fish.

    Jen's 6G Fluval Edge Build?

How about a dwarf puffer? Dario Dario with some shrimp, and a nerite snail would be nice too.

anyone had or has zebra pleco ??

Are you referring to L46 plecos? If so,then here are some good things to feed, Frozen Blood worm Frozen Brine Shrimp Live Bloodworm or Brine Shrimp Peas Zucchini Algae wafers Give them lots of caves to hide in. A planted tank would be nice too. Do not keep them with aggressive fish. They will...

can i cycle new filter in cycled tank ??

If you are planning on running a new filter on a tank that has a cycled filter on it,yes. The new filter will cycle as long as it runs for a few weeks with the established filter.

    Ditching carbon and replacing with...?

Just use something for mechanical filtration. This is what I use in my HOB filters, Aquarium Mechanical Filtration Media: Blue Bonded Filter Pads Cut it to fit in your filter.Rinse it out in tank water when it becomes dirty. And replace it when it fall apart.

    White Stuff on Fish (SD)

I do not consider Pimafix or Melafix medication. They are made from tree oils, and do not work IME.

    White Stuff on Fish (SD)

QuickCure does not affect the beneficial bacteria at all. Pimafix and Melafix will not help your fish. If you add it,it is like giving them a tea bath. There is nothing in either of those products that will help what is going on with your fish right now. They need meds.

    CO2 diffusion methods?

A powerhead or internal filter would work fine in either tank. I was just giving a suggestion that could keep some equipment out of your tank. I like to have as little as possible in mine. Except for fish, plants, and driftwood :)

    CO2 diffusion methods?

In a tank that small,a wooden air stone would be a easy way to diffuse CO2.And would it would not take up the space like a power head or internal filter will.

Identification help-white dots/specks on tank wall of tropical tank (10 G)

Any fish will eat scuds. That is the only way to control them that I know of. If they are snails, cut back on feedings, and pluck them out as you see them. Letting them grow out a bit to get a positive ID on them is probably a good idea.

    population control fish?

I would get a angel. I have never had problems keeping angels in planted tanks. If you get a juvi angel, it should not be a problem keeping it with tetra. Because the tank is planted, then you may not have problems when the angel matures. I keep angels in a heavily planted tank with CPD, and...

    White Stuff on Fish (SD)

It looks like they have some sort of fungal infection plus ich. I would treat the ich with Quick Cure. It is cheap, easy to use,and it works great. I would also get some Jungle Labs Fungus Clear.

    CO2 diffusion methods?

In a 10 gallon, I would use a glass diffuser. They are cheap, and work great in smaller tanks. You will see micro bubbles in your water, but it does not affect the clarity of the water IME. Will this work? --- CO2 system Q's

If money is not a issue, look into what these guys have. Home - SuMo CO2 Regulators for Planted and Reef Aquariums Planted Aquarium Products | CO2 Regulator | Green Leaf Aquariums I did not realize you had a 100g. A glass diffuser would be pointless on that size of tank, unless you purchased...

    Bacteria in water...100% water change?

You are better off finding out why you have excessive algae growing, rather than treating a problem with chemicals. How long are your lights on? What is your stock, tank size, and how often, and how much are you feeding? Is the tank planted? Are you dosing ferts? Is any direct sunlight getting...

    Will this work? --- CO2 system Q's

That is pretty expensive. You could buy the regulator with a solenoid valve, bubble counter and needle valve. Then get a drop checker, diffuser, and tubing for less than what you linked. That is all you need. The PH indicator is unnecessary IMO. If you use a timer for the solenoid valve, and shut...
