It's really weird because I have not added anything to the tank.
As far as feeding they only get fed every other day. There are thousands of these in the tank. I really don't want them at all. I have a 220 gallon tank with no snails in it.
I was thinking just cleaning out the tank and starting...
Alien Snails
After two years my tanks is being over run by snails. They must have come from outer space. We did they come from and can someone tell how to get rid of them.
I pulled all of the decorations out and then sifted the sand. the next day I could see eggs on the walls and more snails...
I agree with mfdrookie516.
I think a Hagen Fluval 405 would be good. I have one in my 55 along with 2 Marineland 280's. It is easy to maintain and also there is a good choices of media that you can put in there.
FX5 may be a little big but will work. It's rated for 400 gallon tanks. I have two...
Try not feeding the fish for a while. Fish do not have to eat every day. You maybe overfeeding, and as you said there not eating. Excess food can cause ammonia spikes. Rinse your filters in tank water to remove excess food. And reinstall.
The point of having the filter is the mechanical filtration and the biological filtration. Most of your beneficial bacteria make there home there. And the fish fiches are filter out. Carbon has it's needs as mentioned above.
It's all going good so far. The fish choices, is going to be a struggle.
I know there are three types of Cichlids. Haps. Mbuma and Peacocks.
I was talking to rookie and he informed me that i may need to stay with Mbuma. I have a mixed crowd already. But I think for the most part they are Mbuma...
I have a few cichlid's with no Scientific Names. If you know what they are please reply.
I got these today for my 220 gallon tank. It's amazing that the store had no idea. But they were cool to watch.
I think a 210 will kill ya. Trust me setting up my 220 was killer on me. The 180 sounds like a good choice 24" deep.
I almost need to scuba dive to get to the bottom of mine. lol
What do you mean by fully stocking with Cichlid s. IMO 30 gallon tank is to small for most cichlid. Under gravel filters IMO are a thing in the past. A good cichlid substrate will do. If your going to fill it up with fish, you will be busy with PWC's. As mentioned above AquaClear 70 is a good...
I did take about 15 pounds of substrate and added it when I put in the eco complete cichlid sand. I'm going to the LFS today to see about some fish.
And also I'm going to transfer the bigger fish from the 55.
Well folks I think these readings for the new tank is blowing me away.
I guess from putting in the filter material from the LFS and the filter from my 55. I have come up with these readings after only a week. I'm thinking to myself is this possible.
I think I better leave the marineland in...
