I have a guppie with a split in his tail the tail is about 15mm and the split is approximately 6-7mm. Is this normal wear and tear ?

Yesterday I spent all day next to my tank waiting for my heavily preggers guppy to drop... No joy... Woke up this morning no fry and Shes skinny again!!! Missed it!!! Grrrrr! Also on looking for fry found a tiny spore looking thing on a plant leaf and 1 small snail :s will post pics later but...

I run a 15 watt light in my 30 gallon and my 5 live plants seem to do fine with just gravel and a little plant fert!!

Is it just the mum that will eat the fry or will it be a free for all in the tank ?

I'm keen to witness the fry being born and mummys massive ready to drop... And behaviour characteristics to keep an eye out for ??

Yes just 4 barbs and 7 guppies I wanted more guppies but don't want to buy expensive fancy guppies for them to be nipped at!!

Ive been using an API test kit parameters are fine I only added the females recently (last week) this could attribute to the behaviour changes :? So are you suggesting if I added a couple more barbs they'd calm down ??

hi ive just got home from 3 days away thinking all would be fine as i did a PWC before going and fed them ect. i come home to find a portion of 1 male guppies tail has definately been nipped at. (see attached photo) i have 7 guppies (3 males 4 females) and 4 cherry barbs in a 95 ltr tank...

im going to upset a few here now but... i was also advised the nutrafin cycle by my LFS and although the majority will advise against it I cycled my tank with 4 cherry barbs within 2 weeks levels all normal ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 0.5

running an average haleum type lamp 12 hrs a day will cost about £400 a year to run, LED setups running 24/7 will only cost £7 a year by comparison!! although the initial setup cost is more! just something to consider!!

i have just bought 4 females to dance with my 3 male guppies and they are clearly all up the duff!! the waiting for fry is killing me, especially as i dont know who the fathers are or what strain of guppy will emerge :S
