My 20G Long FW Planted Tank Build/Journey

Absolutely beautiful tanks, Daileene! I especially love the columns/rock w/ sand/pebbles you have in the 1 tank! :D Oh and, I had to put "Finding Nemo" on to keep my son busy so I could make this post. lol

Whoa! What's up with this fish???

The first thing that popped in my mind when I saw the pic was Curved Spine/TB. I had 2 Neon Tetras w/ that... not fun at all. I had to euthanize them when they could no longer swim upright.

Bad News / Good News First, with the Bad News: Yep, I knew things were going too well. /sigh Scarlet, my Swordtail, started doing somersaults during a pwc tonight. Low and behold she crashed belly up on the gravel right before my eyes. She was still alive, but was obviously going to pass soon...

    My new 100G tank

Your tank looks INCREDIBLE, Edgar!! Nice job w/ the plants! They're really filling-in nicely! Any chance for a video post? :D

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

Hi, Edgar! Yep, that's my Red Tailed Black Shark, Tyrone. Oh and no, the red plant isn't live, but I loved the color, so I kept it. There are 4 other plants in the tank that are plastic as well. They're all against the back of the tank. The 2 tallest ones I have to help hide the air hoses, and...

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

Pics and Video The time has come! I finally have my tank back to "normal", (um, I think, lol), so I took a couple of pics and a video. You will notice that my tank has changed quite a bit from the last pics/vid I uploaded. I added a lot of new plants and I also placed my 3 Lyretail Guppies in...

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

 It really wasn't that bad. The really disgusting part was looking at the little buggers up close. They are freaky! I think I have the outbreak under control now... hopefully! I really don't want to deal w/ that ever again!

It's great to hear from you too! Hope you had a nice Thanksgiving! So... a free trip to Cali? That sounds like a plan! :thumb: Heh. Believe it or not, I found them at WalMart. I went there to buy Fungus Clear, but they were out. They had plenty of the Parasite Clear on the shelf though and I...

Anchor Worms Yep, that's right, I had Anchor Worms in my 55g. A few weeks back, I had noticed 2 white "strings" hanging out from behind my new Swordtail's fin. Now, I've never had to deal w/ anything like this before, so I didn't put it on my list of high-priority things to...

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

Thank you for the advice, Siva! (Sorry for the delay in my reply btw... busy, busy!) Actually, I did quite a bit of research on breeding ADF's, and, you were spot-on w/ everything! :) At this point though, I am holding off on introducing a female ADF in the 5g until I get my 55g back in order...

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

Thank you for the kind words! As far as the 10g, I agree and have no doubt that they'll be fine. Not to mention, I don't plan on keeping all of them. I'm at the planning stage right now w/ this, but now I'm thinking about keeping the original 3 in the 5g. Of course this might change if my...

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

Well, seeing as how I had Sam for quite awhile, it's quite possible that it was something else. I just hate not knowing what happened. Of course, I go through that w/ every death. But, all of that comes w/ the hobby, right? Oh and yes, I don't want anyone getting worn out. lol I was going to...

Update Time Well, folks, I have both a sad and happy update... First w/ the sad update... Mini Mimi, my Gold Dust Molly, didn't make it. :( As you read in a previous post, I was treating her and one of my Silver Tip Tetras w/ Maracyn II to help get rid of Columnaris. One week after...

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

Thank you for the reply, Siva! I had actually considered Dropsy... but he wasn't bloated at all. In fact, towards the end, he was quite skinny. More than likely due to the fact that he couldn't swim down to eat. One thing I did notice, and didn't realize at the time, was that he was spending a...

    55 Gallon Freshwater Tank

RIP Sam Sad news, guys. A few days ago I noticed that Sam, my African Dwarf Frog, was spending a lot of time floating at the surface. I would nudge him lightly w/ my finger and he would start moving. Well, day before yesterday, I nudged him and he would twitch a little, but he looked to be...

Duplicate posts, Ed? lol Thank you for the well wishes! It was a chore to do pwc's w/ my back issues, but I've stayed right on top of them, (50% weekly). I really think that my heavy bioload did have a lot to do w/ the Columnaris. I still have my Common Pleco and he's producing so much waste...

    Worms in pimafix?!!

Worms?! Ok, that is strange! Have you poured some of the Pimafix into a clear glass to make sure they come out of the bottle? I'm not saying it isn't possible that they were in there, but I would verify that they did in fact come from the bottle. If they did, I would definitely contact...

My 20G Long FW Planted Tank Build/Journey

Hey, Daileene! I read your other threads and I feel so bad about the loss of your fishes. :( I was researching Guppies a week or so ago and, if I remember correctly, I read that Guppies can withstand cooler water temps than most fish. I got my 3 Lyretail Guppies from Petco and they are...

    Columnaris

I've used salt in the past, (not the recommended dosage though), w/ my Clown Loach and he was fine. But that was before I added my Shrimp. The only other tank I have is my 5g... but I have RCS babies in that tank.

    Columnaris

Thanks, Jonathan! Yes, I'm definitely planning on gradually lowering the temp when I get home from work. I think my CL will be fine w/ a little salt, but I have 2 Bamboo Shrimp. Will salt hurt the Shrimp? As far as my plants, they're looking 'blah' as it is, so I'm not too worried about losing a...

    Columnaris

Yep, it's the Maracyn II. :thumb: I will try my luck tonight with the treatment and just do a pwc to the 55g. Thank you so much for the advice! I truly appreciate it! :)
