Not a new tank. I've had it for over a year. I just replaces the filter (let the new filter sit in the tank for a week before I swapped them). I guess I'll just let it go away. At what point do I need to become concerned?
A brown film had developed on the plants and items in my tank. I'm not sure what it is. I recently performed a water cleaning by removing 2/3 or the water and replaced it. After the swap it appeared on the top of my plants and had slowly worked its way down the tank.
Anyone have an idea what...
I bought some Bloodworms to feed my fish but I'm not sure now much to feed them. They are frozen 2.8oz cubes. Normally I give them the standard Tropical Flakes (just a pinch) and it's worked great for months.
My tank is a 10 gallon and has the following fish;
2- Guppies
2- Mollies
3- Neon...
Thank you everyone for the advice. I'm going to change the decor this weekend while leaving the fish in the tank. I'll have some pics when I'm done.
Thanks
If I don't take the fish out of the tank do I risk stressing them too much with the constant moving the water and inserting and removing my arm into the tank?
Or is moving them to a temp tank just as stressful?
I currently have a bridge and a bubbling volcano with tall plants in the middle (see profile pic). Was considering adding more gravel, removing the bridge along with half the tall plants. Moving the other half of the plants to the right and replacing the bridge with something of equivalent size...
Have a 10G tank with 6 fish, a frog and shrimp and want to change the decor.
I was thinking of taking the animals and placing them into our 1G tank using the existing tank water. Then draining the tank and replacing some decor.
Is there anything that I should be aware of or make sure that I...
10G tank
2 Guppies
2 Molly's
3 Neon Tetras (now two)
3 Ghost shrimp
We fed fish our normal yesterday and everything seemed fine and all fish accounted for. 30 hours later we had one less Tetra and a carcass (See attached for picture). Is it possible to go from normal to just bones in 30 hours...
Agree on no more fish until it l levels out. Depending on the size of your Guppies and Molly's you may have enough already.
When it comes to Prime I just add three drops into the pitcher of water, add water and dump. If want to test Prime use your API on just you tap water. Then add the...
Welcome to AA,
I too am new to the whole thin by after coming here I have found some great advice and great people.
I too have a 10G tank half dome that I love. When I do my PWC I have a dedicated pitcher that I use that hold 4L of water. Here is what I do.
1. I first turn off the power to...
Thank you for all the advice. Just walked in and all the fish were there and happy to see me. I gave them a little to eat now and fill feed them again on Tuesday.
Thanks you again for all the feedback.
We currently feed our fish every other morning and it has been working great. We are leaving for a 2 day vacation and will be back on the other day afternoon. Should we have someone stop by and feed our fish that morning or will they be ok until the afternoon?
Couldn't agree more. The first month of my tank I just used the strips as well. Then I got the API test kit when I found out that pink on the strip actually meant way too high on the API kit.
I love the kit and I can't image having a tank without it. I actually look forward to testing my tank...
Update to my tank.
Last night I did a 25% water change jut as I have done for the last 3 nights. Tonight prior to performing a PWC I decided to test the water. Here are the results.
pH 7.6
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0 ppm
Is it normal to have zero's across the board?
I tested...
I already have a Platy, Guppie, 2 neon tetras and 2 ghost shrimp. My wife wants more but I'm not sure how far I can take it.
In my area the stores only have these basic types. The ones you mentioned I have never heard of so they aren't local.
I have been told that I should stock my tank with no more than 1" of fish for every gallon. So if I have a 10g tank that all my fish when fully grown should not combine for more than 10"
Do ghost shrimp and dwarf frogs count against the tank? What about other bottom dwellers or sucker fish?
My tank is a 10g Tetra half moon LED. The filter is a combo filter. I have attached a picture.
It has the carbon built inside the filter. I have read that I should leave this in until it's falling apart to keep the good bacteria present and NEVER wash it off with tap water.
Sound about right?
