Best moss for covering drift wood

What do you mean that there is no such thing as a good moss?

Best moss for covering drift wood

I do like the look of riccia but it seems like it takes a lot of effort to attach it to wood. It might be a good plant to experiment with, but as a solution now, I think ill go with christmas moss. It seems to have the properties that I want.

Best moss for covering drift wood

I'm looking for a nice moss that is able to cover a piece of drift wood exposed to high light, without getting stringy. I have tried this with java moss, but it just grew upwards and stringy, no matter what I did to stop it. Plus, I don't like how invasive java moss is. It seems like I spend...

    Good plant for driftwood

The light can't be moved since I have dwarf hairgrass in the bottom of the tank. I can try anubias and hope it wont be torched by the light.

    Good plant for driftwood

The problem with the java fern is that the high light will "burn" the plant. And since the wood is very close to the light, the java fern just doesn't do well.

    Good plant for driftwood

I've used java moss before, but it tends to invasive and annoying, so id rather not use that stuff.

    Good plant for driftwood

I'm looking for a good plant to attach to driftwood. I had java fern and it worked fairly well, but due to it being close to the light source, it didn't do so well. So, does anyone have suggestions as to what plant would work well here? Thanks.

    My betta is sick.

I agree with the food. I would mainly give him fish flakes and throw in the bloodworm once a week. Plus, you may be feeding him too much which would result in poor water quality.

    White fuzz on otocinclus

Well, after doing a bit of research, it seems like it is saprolegnia. There is a good article about it here: Saprolegnia Fungal Infection Richard Carlson Anyways, the discussion is still open just so I can learn about this. Has anyone had experience with this? When one fish gets infected and...

    White fuzz on otocinclus

I have a tank with 5 otocinclus and a variety of other fish, and today, I notices that one of the ottos has a patch of white fuzz in between his eyes. Has anyone experienced this in the past? I have never seen this before, so I'm a bit worried.

    snails

Those snails aren't a problem. I've had them before and the only downside is that they aren't that attractive to look at. I would suggest just squishing them with a flat piece of plastic (not with your hands because the shells can hurt). When you crush them, the fish in your tank will eat...

Lighting question- Marineland reef capable LED

I've read that actinic lights contribute to algae growth since they thrive on that light. Plants only grow with specific wavelengths of light so there is a chance that all you will need os the white lights. He blue will be unecessary and contribute to excessive algae growth. If I were you id...

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

Ill have to try pps pro. It looks complicated but I guess I just need to bite the bullet. Filling my tank to the brim might not work well since I have a marineland biowheel and they can get loud if the water level is too low or high. But ill experiment. I actually got the r2 for the same...

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

I'm loving how everything is looking. I'm excited to see how the glosso turns out. I was thinking about going that route for ground cover, but decided on dwarf hairgrass instead. My GH (=170ppm) and KH (=20ppm) are polar opposites of yours. I've been working to get them lower but the won't...

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

I don't have a background on my 30 gallon tank. I was planning on putting a black piece of plastic behing the tank like I did on my old 10 gallon, but I decided against it. I, working towards grossing a wall of anacharis in the back but not to the point where it completely blocks out the back...

    Best Tap Water Conditoner

For yard, I have been using API Stress Coat + as a tap water conditioner and way to soothe my fish when stressed, but recently I've been thinking about if this is the best product out there. So, I have a few questions. What tap water conditioner do you use and why? Next question is do you...

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

I was thinking about attaching my LEDs with screws like you, but changed my mind and opted for thermal epoxy. I ordered some last night so hopefully it will be here soon. Anyways, by doing this, the amount of holes I'd have to drill were greatly reduced and the durability of the system is...

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

What kind of thermal paste did you use? Thermal adhesive or thermal grease? Thermal grease is abundant around where I live but im afraid it wont hold the leds to the aluminum tube. On a side note, I ordered less and a driver from a company called cutter electronics. The less are a little...

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

Do you have the schematic or pictures for the pot modification to the power supply? I can't seem to find it. Also, what is the resistance of the resistor and pot?

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

Well that is a great testimonial. I think that's the route im going to go since its worked for you and it's very cheap. The leds you chose don't light up the red spectrum as much as id like but it is still much better than what I have. I might even run some tests in the future to see what...

High-Power LED Fixture for a Planted Tank

I've been looking into LEDs for a while and I found all of your information quite helpful. I'm thinking about replacing the fluorescent lights in my stock hood with LEDs simply for the increased light. Anyways, since installing your LED system two weeks ago, is there anything you wish you did...

    substrate question

Does flourite change the water chemistry a lot? Since I have fish in my aquarium I don't want to stress them too much. Also, how thick of a layer would you recommend?

    substrate question

I currenly have plain black aquarium gravel as a substrate. In my tank I am growing anacharis and am looking to get dwarf hairgrass. I am using diy co2 and no fertilizers. I have seen flourite aquarium gravel and have been told it is very good. My question is do you think its worth replacing...
