Hi All, still a relative newbie. I have a 30 gal sw tank with a royal gramma, a gold headed goby, a chromis, a cleaner shrimp, a fire shrimp and snails, both Nassarius and turbo. Do I still need to vacuum the sand or will it harm the clean up crew? Thanks in advance, Julie.

Hi All, I picked up some Nassarius snails the other day. I noticed that one of them has the tiniest feather duster clinging to its shell. Will it drop off and find a new place in the tank? Should I try to remove it from the snail?

Here is part of the article that made me ask... Make sure that any decorations that are used in an aquarium are Fish Safe. This simply means that anything that will degrade over time or leech into the tank should NEVER be added to your aquarium. Large amounts of anything leaking into your tank...

The reason I asked is that when I was looking for decorations some stated 'Not safe for saltwater"....wondering if you remember or if these were from your FW setup.

Scott, I have to ask...are those decorations truly safe for saltwater? I have read that some are not and can leach into the tank. Just curious since you had all of those mystery losses. Also, I have 3 chromis in my tank...love 'em!

Are you sure it's dead? I recently added a cleaner shrimp to my tank along with an existing fire shrimp. The next morning I saw a carcass, antenna and all. Saw him later in between rocks, he had molted as soon as he hit the tank!

I added a cleaner shrimp yesterday and everyone seems happy. Each shrimp has claimed his own side of the tank :) Thanks for all of the input!

Hi all, I have a 30 gal sw with just a royal gramma and a green chromis along with the fire shrimp. I am waiting for a pair of clowns. I would like to add 2 or 3 peppermint shrimp to the mix. Would this be OK?

Scott, So sorry to hear about your fish. Is there ANY chance that your live rock may be harboring a nasty crab that could be the culprit? I have read about them on these forums. Just a thought...can't imagine that one fish could do all that damage!

Scott, Do you have Koralia power heads? I lost a couple of chromis after a ph issue. Searched high and low and found them stuck to the underside of the power head...

Funny Scott, I have tried several times to feed my royal meaty foods, blood worms, mysis...but he just spits it out. Usually snags 4-6 pellets every other day. Doesn't bother with flakes, either. Happy, active guy, but he's alone with a green chromis and a fire shrimp. Still trying to find my...

Hi all, I have a relatively new tank...up since Feb 1st. Arranged the rock how I thought I wanted it, but now see that it needs improvement for flow. What is the best and safest way to rearrange with fish and shrimp already in the tank? I do not have a QT to place them in. Suggestions please :)

Your nitrates are too high....should be near zero to five. You need to do a partial water change asap.

It may, but when I read the threads by going in that way, the badge disappeared. If I read it by going thru the forums, the alert remained. You may not have to delete the message, but just read it from there. Roundabout way to get messages, tho.

I had the same issue... go to 'more' at the bottom of the screen, select subscribed and delete anything there. It doesn't seem to clear after you read the posted thread on its own.
