Photos would be appreciated. It would make it much easier showing my girlfriend all the possible additions to our tank without going to external sources for each one. Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    6 Weeks on

Thanks for the info. I'll probably message you with more questions when I think of them if you don't mind. The more I look at your tank, the more I love it. Absolutely beautiful.

    6 Weeks on

I'm planning on making a tank for a black ghost knife fish and your tank is exactly what I pictured it to look like. Could you tell me your tank specs, such as lighting, ferts besides the flourish tabs, filtration, etc. that would be very helpful to me.

    Question about ram

I'm glad a few people came in here with Bolivian experience, b/c I have none.

    Question about ram

Hmm, I'd say give it a bit more time and see if the colors improve, if they don't then I'm going to say its a Bolivian ram.

    Question about ram

Yeah I know what you mean about the moving problem. How longer have you had this ram? And how long has it been in that specific tank?

    Question about ram

I don't think that's a GBR, and if it is then it is vey pale (which is fine if it was just added to the tank). It's probably a Bolivian Ram. Sorry, I don't know anything about them, but from what I've heard they are very similar to GBRs. Try googling "sexing Bolivian ram cichlids" and see if...

    Question about ram

Thank you. Too bad he died a few months ago. I just took a few pictures of the female I have. Once again I did it with my iPhone do the quality isn't the greatest. She also wouldn't stop moving long enough for me to get a focused shot.

    Question about ram

Attached is a picture of my old male German Blue Ram. I don't have any good pictures of the female. I'll take some when I get home Edit: taken on my iPhone; not the best quality

    Question about ram

**All of this is assuming you have a German Blue Ram (didn't see you state what type of ram)** To tell if it is a female you can... • Look at the belly, if it is pinkish then it is female. (I find this the easiest way to tell with GBRs) • Look at the black dot behind its eyes. If it is solid...

    Question about ram

I have had rams for a few months now and a female is just now showing aggression. I've noticed she only goes after my rainbows and cherry barbs (very rarely). I have yet to see her go after my hippies or neon tetras. From this I could say rams are generally peaceful, but they have individual...

    Eco Complete

I've set up 2 tanks with EcoComplete and never had to wash it or even drain the water. Just read the instructions on the bag. They say if you are adding it to an established tank then drain the extra water in the bag, if adding to a new tank then just pour all of the contents straight in...

    GBR breeding

If there aren't any flat rocks, and you do end up having a pair, then they will dig a small crater in the substrate and lay their eggs there. That's what mine did atleast.

Beautiful tank. Can't wait to see more pictures :)

    Peaceful Cichlids

I suggest German Blue Rams. They are beautiful and great to watch. They aren't too aggressive, if at all. The only times I saw mine being aggressive was when they were breeding. Everyone says they are sensitive and somewhat hard to care for, but I added 1 male and 2 females to a 2 day old 10g...

Start of a long relationship (planted tank journal)

No idea. It was the first time I ever had egg layers so I didn't know what to do. I did read that the first few batches are normally eaten, or simply don't survive. hopefully the next time will be better for me, and this time for rookie :)

Start of a long relationship (planted tank journal)

My GBRs just laid eggs for the first time Sunday. When I checked Tuesday to see if they hatched I watched as the parents ate the eggs. I hope your apistos don't do the same.

    Sexing Blue Ram Cichlids

So I came home from my dads retirement party tonight to a pile of GBR eggs! I'm really excited about it but have never had egg-laying fish before. Any tips from breeders or people with experience with growing GBR fry? Right now the only fish in the tank are 2 females and 1 male GBR. Here is a...

    Sexing Blue Ram Cichlids

Thank you for the response. I asked my LFS guy about it and he said the same thing. He also said that nowadays we don't necessarily need low Ph to breed GBRs because of all of the tank-bred fry instead of wild caught.
