    Water from an established tank

I doubt it... It will probably just introduce nitrate, which won't feed any bacteria. I'm not 100 percent sure though.

    200 gallon reef plan/advice

So, somwhere in the far future (atleast a year), I'm going to be setting up a much larger tank than my current 75 G display, and I'm planning on a 200G biotope. I have a few questions for you! First off, I'm torn between Biotopes, either a red sea reef or a hawaiian Reef, which one would you do...

    Purple tang dying?

I was thinking it was from such a low salinity since the beginning. Try raising it back up slowly.

Is this a type of coral?

It appears to be an anemone, closely related to aiptasia. I would say get some Aiptasia-X and treat it.

    Fluval Edge Nano Reef

Well, IMO your having fun but not taking care of the fish. Were not just sucking this stuff out of our thumbs. The clown might survive. Maybe even probably. But he WILL have stunted growth, he WILL have gill scarring, and He WILL have poor quality of life. Were not ragging on you, were telling...

10gal tank with fishies, just found this site, cycle/general questions

It would be much better and quicker if you put your tetras in your mothers 29 temporarily and start a fishless cycle. I can't link you to the very helpful article on My phone, I hope someone else can step in and do so. Anyway, if you do thy you won't be damaging your fish and the cycle can take...

    Clownfish breeding tanks/ venture

So, after a converstion with a man named Bob, I have learned that the fish are five weeks into quarantine and will need to be quarantined about three more. That's okay though, gives me more time to cycle the tank, get it ready for them, establish cultures, etc. Although I don't expect there to...

can anyone give me some advice?

Certainly cheaper than buying in stores or online dealerships, but I don't think it's the best craigslist type deal you could find

Never ever do what the LFS says! The rule is usually do the opposite of what they say!

Please help Comet Goldfish with bloody white tail

You don't need any beneficial bacteria after your tank is cycled. In fact, it usually doesn't even help when your cycling, but some people claim it helps the cycle go faster.

Just got a light, is it okay

I'd say it'd be enough only for low plants, not medium.

    Hang on back appliances???

You should never, ever get any sort of fish that doesn't fit in your tank at adult size with plans of getting rid of it or upgrading later, IMO.

    Fluval Edge Nano Reef

Im concerned that when the clownfish get's bigger that that tank might not be quite big enough for it. I'm not sure, but I've never heard of a clown (one clown) in anything lower than a ten, and I think in small amounts of water like those, four gallons can make a big difference. Anyone else...

    anemone acting strange

I think an obvious problem is that you have nitrates at 20 ppm. I think that is no condition for a tank with an anemone in it to be in.

Anyone ever thought about opening a LFS?

You definitely can use the honest approach. My LFS gives nothing but honest advice. Some hometown not-big-chains do take that approach. (of course, I'm not advocating doing what ANY LFS says blindly)

    Clownfish breeding tanks/ venture

Did another test cause I'm so eager :P Appears I'm edging up towards twenty ppm of nitrate. Also, I looked in and I'm seeing some cool stuff in my tank already, mostly feather dusters. There in all different colors, and one is a deep, deep red thats really beautiful. To bad its so small right now.
