    Guppy problems

Anyone? What would cause a fish to swim and jerk/twitch and dart around?

    Guppy problems

Ammonia 0, nitrite 0 and nitrate 5.0ppm in my community tank of two ADF, one ghost shrimp, four otos and three guppies (used to be three but now two females, one male). Last week I was out of town and one of my guppies was due to give birth, my husband (not knowing any better) had her in a...

Has anyone else tried raffia ribbon for fry?

It's dried out, it comes in a spool just like ribbon in craft sections at stores.

Albino African Dwarf Frogs DO Exist

That's awesome. One question though, why are clawed frogs illegal in some states?

    Crown tail guppy

Has anyone see much of these in the states? Here I was thinking I bought a fish that had a nipped tail only come to find out they are a new strain of crown/merah or umbrella tail guppies. I'm hearing that they are mostly sold in Thailand. I'm thinking I might just buy the last three I saw...

    New 14 gallon tank!

I actually have mine trained haha. I got the small little terracotta pots with the trays from Hobby Lobby and I feed them bloodworms on the tray via turkey baster and have the terracotta pots as hiding places. I tap the glass gently every time I feed them and now every time they hear the tap...

If you want something for the bottom...well will swim to the top for air too, African Dwarf Frogs are pretty fun. Lol not a fish but I love these little guys. I have guppies, ADF's and some ghost shrimp so you got top to mid range swimmers, bottom and well the shrimps are all over. The frogs are...

Has anyone else tried raffia ribbon for fry?

Well since my optionals were limited for live plants in the small area I live in, I started looking online for other options. I came across raffia on a guppy blogspot. I have never heard of the stuff so I looked up more information on it. It is natural ribbon made from the raffia palm. I fould a...

    breeding my guppies

Haha no worries, like most people say, soon you will be wonder if they'll ever stop breeding. :-P Just throwing it out there though, with some guppies like the one I have, she didn't get any black until the week before she dropped. Her gravid spot was like a transparent yellow. This was right...

Is it a tear, or fin rot?

What color is the edge around the hole. Fin rot tends to look white and some cases, yes it could start in the middle. I've boggled my mind today searching through every information I've found on fin rot. I'm trying to see if one of my guppies has it. The only thing to do is keep checking it to...

Something may be wrong with glofish....?

How long have you had the tank for? Is the tank cycled? I'm not sure if glofish are good tankmates for the catfish but you have too many fish for a ten gallon. It might be they don't have their own space and are fighting for it. The catfish can grow up to 3 inches and the glofish 2 inches. The...

    Population Control Question?

If you get too overrun with fish, you can try out all your lfs and see if they would buy them or trade for store credit. If all else fails then craigslist or freecycle. =D

    Guppy babies

Angelfish56, you and I are in the same boat. Do you know how mature she is? It is my guppies first birth and she only popped out four on the 13th and she still looks huge now. From everything I've looked up, it's not uncommon for the first batch of fry to be little. Also the first birth may be...

    Fin rot or nipping?

Thanks for the reply. You know, now that I look at him more under brighter light, I'm really wondering if he has some odd swordtail/fantail mutation...err deformity. In that pic his tail was up but when he swims around, that bottom piece is pointed down and is longer than the rest of the tail...

    Filter too strong for betta

My filter was too strong for my gups so I just went to the lfs and bought filter foam, cut it to fit the chamber of my filter. Problem solved, also it helped to polish the water a bit. I have a three chamber filter though, so I have the filter cartridge sandwiched inbetween two peices of foam.

    Fin rot or nipping?

I recently bought a guppy from a store. The tank was full of males, most of one color and tail pattern, all of them had ragged tails, pic below. There were maybe two or three of another different pattern and their tails were fine. I figured it was just the males picking on each other and fin...
