    Fluval U2 filter

No, I wasn't sure how to go about doing that without damaging the filter. Do I just poke a piece of wire into the outlet pipe?

    Fluval U2 filter

Ok, I'm on my 3rd one on a year... After 3-4 months they have about a third of their power. I clean the pads and do a 30% water change every week. Rather than buy a 4th, is there a cleaning tip I'm missing out on? Any suggestions? Thanks! Henry

White spots but not "white spot"

Hi, My two German Blue Rams have white spots on fins and tail. I first thought it was "white spot" and used interpet 6 to treat in the past so used it again. It hasn't cured them. Furthermore I have two clown loaches amongst other fish and no other fish have symptoms and I'm sure if I had...

    Filter venturi

Great, thanks! It was making loads of little bubbles in the water which made it look like there was stuff in the water... Gentle ripple it is from now, cheers!

    Filter venturi

Hi, I have a fluval U2 filter and I has a Venturi which pumps bubbles into the water. I read online that the water surface needs to be broken for oxygen to get into the water and fish to breathe. The problem is the Venturi pumps our a lot of bubbles. It has 2 other options, one where the...

    Angels and Rams

Ah ok, thanks! I have a small bowl for the kids room which I might pop the Betta in... Is it simply a case of Rams/Angles occuply different parts of the tank, therefore increasing cover (plants & rocks) won't really matter - ?

    Angels and Rams

Hi, I have a 130L aquarium with 2 bolivians and 2 GBRs and a male Betta. I was wondering if an Angle fish would be ok with them? Thanks Henry

    How to change substrate

Can I leave the fish in a bucket while I make the switch? (I only have one tank!)

    Betta and Rams

Strange! My Bolivians don't bother any other fish at all... The only nightmare in my tank is the betta!

    How to change substrate

Hi all, I am thinking of changing my substrate from gravel to sand (i have white gravel and I'm fed up of vacuuming the gravel when it turns a bit brown) also I have a school of corys who (so I'm told) prefer sand. How do I go about switching? I was thinking of draining 50% of the water...

    Betta and Rams

I have 2 Bolivians and a male betta, the betta chases the rams quite a bit but he also chases my tetras too! Overall I've had mine together for 6 months and apart from the chasing, they're fine (none have been attacked or nipped) so perhaps I just have an angry betta!

    Overstocked?

It's gravel sub-strate, and it's definitely missing its whiskers. There's nothing sharp in the tank, I've had him for over a month and have 2 other corys which I've had for a year now and they're both fine - ?

    Overstocked?

On another note, one of my Julies appears to have lost its whiskers... Is this normal?

    Overstocked?

yeah I do 3 x 10L buckets a week so anotehr bucket full isn't going to be the end of the world... Thanks for your help!

    Overstocked?

Its a Fluval U2 filter which came with the Fluval 90L tank. I do 30% water changes once a week. I was hopinh to get at least one more cory (one of the reasons why I wondered if i'm already overstocked). I don't know if the LFS will take back any of the platys, They're only taking the pleco...

    Overstocked?

Hi All, I have a 90L tank, with the following: 4 x Platy 1 x Pleco (although this is going back to the LFS as it's grown to about 4") 3 x Cory 2 x Bolivian Ram 6 x Neon Tetras 1 x Male Betta I am doing 30% water changes once a week and the levels all look fine, but some of the platys and...

    Moving House

I sucessfully moved. I bought a large 60L tub from the hardware store and filled this half full (30L) with tank water, filter and fish. Then moved the tank with about an inch of water in then bottom (just enough to cover the gravel). Once in my new home, I filled the tank most of the way...

Filter - bubbles or no bubbles?

Surely breaking the surface is only achived by bubbles?

Filter - bubbles or no bubbles?

Ah so I'm actually better off switching to non-bubbled filtration?

Filter - bubbles or no bubbles?

Hi, My Fluval U2 filter has an option which blows bubbles. I was told this option was preferred as it puts oxygen into the water. However, I have a male betta and was told they don't like bubbles as they breath from the surface. Will putting the filter on normal mode (i.e. with no...

Why are you separating the betta?

    Moving House

Thanks, I'm hoping i'm making it out to be more complicated than it really is! I think as long as the substrate is covered in water (about 2" should do it) and two of us lift it carefully, the seals should be ok (if it can hold 90L of water, i'm sure it can hold 2" and be moved safely). My...

    Moving House

The bucket I was going to use is the one I use exclusively for water changes so should be safe. Didn't think about the wright of the gravel!

    Moving House

Hi All, I'm moving house next week and wasn't sure how best to move the tank. Its a 29G, i'm only moving about 5 mins down the road (but not close enough to walk!) I was thinking of draining 80% of the water and putting fish and filter in a bucket with tank water. Then putting the tank (and...
