    help choose a bottom dweller

A black ghost knife would be awesome but I don't think it will fit into the tank. I looked at them before though and they would be epic to have. They might eat the rasboras too though because they only get up to about an inch

    help choose a bottom dweller

I want sort of a more slender fish. Like I said the red tailed shark fit in so well but after getting the rasboras (which are abou 3/8" right now) it would not be a good idea because it will get agressive as it matures. But the black with the smallbit of red gliding around the bottom and through...

    help choose a bottom dweller

I thought about them but I don't really want to get a whole bunch of fish for their school. I would much rather have a lonesome larger (3-4 inch about) fish that will swim around. I really liked the red tailed shark but I might just end up getting a few cories

    help choose a bottom dweller

So i have 4 platys and 6 lambchop rasboras in a 20 gallon long tank that is planted with a sand substrate and plenty of driftwood and was wondering about what would be a good bottom level fish. I had a red tailed shark before but alas I did not have a good enough lid and I found him on he ground...

help with 20g planted tank setup

recently i had bought a 20 gallon tank (thanks to the $1 per gallon sale at petco) but i have not yet started doing anything. right now i have a 10g tank that was running smoothly for a while. unfortunately it started getting mirky (i think because of bacterial bloom) and then i went away for...

    turtles with fish

They are illegal that little because they spread salmonella. You used to be able to buy them the size of dime (my dad says) but it's something about carrying that disease when they are young. Catch one in the wild if u want. My friend raised one in a tupperware last year.

    Cherry shrimp and platys?

Have u seen the river monsters episode on them. The state of Texas went out and tried to kill them off because they were attacking people, good luck finding a place to take it because you won't be able to release it.

    New Found Fish Love !

you have got to remember though that almost all of the fish in the lfs have been breeded and have never been in the wild, they are ment to be pets. you should try to take care of them as best you can but half of the fish are bred to look that way and do not exist in the wild.

    Driftwood from LFS

You don't have problems with detergent getting into the wood with the dishwasher? I would think the only thing worse than soap would be detergent. I know you aren't putting any in the washer with the wood (I hope) but people worry if rivers have any sort of run off that could bring trace amounts...

Let's not get in that discussion. Only trouble comes from talking about politics, religion, money and sexual preferences.

I keep mine in the hall right by the stairwell so everyone in the house can see them. Also it's like an aquatic window

If anyone knows what that second plant is (I think it is actually two different kinds rolled up into one pot) I would love to know.

    Seizure!

My platy was doing the same sort of thing. It just froze up for a bit and was all tensed up. It seemed like a stroke but I don't think fish have big enough brains. Haha. It got better though,

Yeah I had another one before but he died a while ago. The platy is a sunrise I think it is and was one of the first fish in the tank. It's actually helping a lot by eating the algae off of the plants.

this is my tank. it does not look half as foggy because i just did a water change a few hours ago. the green algae on the white rock is just the easiest to see but those little spots are all over everything, rocks, gravel, plants, ect.

i think you still need to feed plecos especially if there isnt a ton of algae. and yea i know, first thing i do with the wood is debark it and boil it, havent put any in a tank yet despite the amount i am making. also i think that it might be a bacteria bloom because i just switched the filter...

Well I ask because my platy looked like he was coughing and I saw him completely freeze up two days ago, like it was having a stroke, it's fine now though.

The algae is a grass green and sort of looks like mold on the rocks now, but it is just fogging up my tank really bad really fast. Can water borne algae kill fish? I'll post some pictures in a bit

Yeah it's planted. I have one big plant that I don't know what it is and then two compactas that I split from one of those tubes. I think I'm gonna hold off on the new fish for a while though because I'm going through my first noticeable algae bloom. Any advice
