    What is this? Fish ID

Gudgeon. How come I have never even heard the name before? Very interesting.

    What is this? Fish ID

I was looking at sunfish too, I searched the Pygmy but the one shown above has those two sets of dorsal fins, which doesn't match. I'm just as confused as anybody.

    What to get

Hmm, it also states that zebras wouldn't work with them. Looks like either I was wrong or you lucked out!

    What to get

Jacob, I keep hearing that the two aren't too compatible with each other, Labs from lake Malawi and Brichardi from lake Tanganyikan.

    What to get

I agree with convict2161 that a sydontis may be your best bet. I've heard of a number of separate accounts where those specific catfish were living with cichlids.

    What to get

I heard that fish raised together will have a less likely chance of aggressive behavior toward each other. I'm hoping they are still babies at least? Anyway, to be more on-topic, I've heard that Acei cichlids go well, possibly rusty or firemouth. Someone could correct me.

I'll be heading to Tampa for six weeks to study at USF! Summer B term. Hurray.

    Sinking Gourami!

Agreed. You really want to stay in the 72-82 degrees Fahrenheit range. Especially for the Ram, who, I can attest, are very very fragile.

    Sick German blue ram

Got a bottle of melafix in my hand at Petsmart, on the back it says it can treat pop eye. Might have to buy it. And yes, unfortunately I've heard about the sensitivity. I've had this guy for about 5 or so months.

    Sick German blue ram

I found some Aquarium salt and added almost 1/3 of a cup to the tank. Will do a pwc tomorrow.

    Sick German blue ram

Of sorts yes. And the symptoms, (i.e no food interest and not much movement) seem to clarify it. I think this might be it. Hmm.. I did read the article but I dont have "Epsom salts" and other such stuff, any meds I could possibly buy at Petsmart or other stores that I could add to the tank that...

    Sick German blue ram

Difficult to get a photo because the fish has gone into hiding-my first sign of trouble. Parameters are seemingly fine, ph read approx 7.8, ammonia is <0.25ppm The area around the eyeball and the eye itself has bulged slightly. Not a moor goldfish bulge, but still quite noticeable. Other...

    Sick German blue ram

My German blue ram has an inflated right eye. No other fish seem to be affected. Although he does seem to be very unhappy with his new deformity. What might be the cause and how can I help him?

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

Very very true. Alright, I think my best bet would be to wait until my 46 is up and running. Thank you very much for your input :) And a Merry Christmas to you too!

Advice taken, however. I will rethink what I'm doing if that's the case.

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

I'm under the impression that the upside down cat maxes at 4 inches. That's still going to be a size issue when adding other fish?

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

Update: I was thinking about maybe adding a small school of cardinals/neons. Anyone got a good estimate of how many or if they would fit?

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

I was informed that the upside down cat only grows to about 4 inches. Even if right now I went by the gallon/inch rule I'd be at around 20 out of 29. Max. Thank you all mucho for your input!

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

Much appreciated. I've got a 46 Gallon that I think could really do well with a nice big group of cardinals! And yes, it's so horribly ironic that the day after I create this post something happens.

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

Oh my Lord :/ Just got home to find the weaker one dead on the bottom.. I honestly did not see that coming in the slightest. I've had them both for approximately 5 months.. Indeed a sad day :( Least he won't get picked on in fish heaven. Lesson learned, poor little guy. Least now I can set my...

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

Completely forgot about my 2 Golden wonder killies :/ Based on the colour schema I would have to go for a male and a female, do at least no drama there. As far as space is concerned, I think I'm pretty set. All fish have a nice space to themselves, and the Serpae tetras have their own pecking...

    My 29 Gallon tank :)

Bought this tank what seems like forever ago. In reality probably less than a year. Current homeowners are as followed: 2 German Blue Rams. (bought 2 online asking for a pair but got 2 males) 7 Serpae tetras. 1 upside down catfish 1 otocinclus. 2 golden wonder killies. I just rearranged my tank...

    Breeding convict tankmates

Ive got a 46 gallon tank and I was planning on using it for the purpose of breeding these lovelies. My question is, is there a fish that I could include in that tank that could coexist with these aggressive fish? As well as having the potential to possibly eat a percentage of the fry? I've done...
