Jacob, I keep hearing that the two aren't too compatible with each other, Labs from lake Malawi and Brichardi from lake Tanganyikan.

Ive had mine for 2 years along with my aratus and a red zebra male with zero problems at all. Thats all i have tho so that might make my tank situation a little different than others

Hmm, it also states that zebras wouldn't work with them. Looks like either I was wrong or you lucked out!

Probably lucked out, they are all very calm there is rarly conflict in my tank lol

How can you tell a male jewel from a female??

Its hard. You pretty much have to wait until they reach 2 inches or so and even then it's difficult. The only reason I know I have a male and a female is the presence of eggs and fry.
