    Fish on a diet?

This seems silly for me just to ask, but my glofish is has a considerably large stomach. I have another glofish and the overweight one is atleast 25% bigger. I believe this fish are sterile so being pregnant is out. I tried quarantining the fish to better control how much it can eat to no...

I've read about people having success using Miracle Gro Organic Choice soil. I have yet to try it though.

    DIY Co2

From what I read, it seems as long as you can keep the co2 flow to a consistent rate it should be safe. The only issue would probably be a Ph crash from too much co2 into a tank.

Im not sure what to do...

It means the diameter of the bulb is 5/8. HO means high output. I believe this translates to more lumens compared to a normal output. This means more light. Anubias will grow in low light. Try plantgeek.net and look in their low light section.

    accurate ph kit?

Strips are known to be much less accurate. A good API test kit would suit your needs well.

    Uneven tank

Not trying to scare you, but I believe I've read people claiming that having their tank on an unlevel surface caused a stress crack....and a big mess.

A shrimp suddenly appeared in my aquarium

Are you are it's not larvae from a bug? I know mosquitos will put their babies in water, and they are transparent.

Im not sure what to do...

19W should be fine for low light plants. Depending on what you're trying to grow, I would buy a double strip fixture; let's you grow more. And yes, look into T5HO lighting.

Good to hear. Do you know of any references I might look at to get started?

    Growing plants above water?

Yeah, I thought most commercially raised plants were grown above water. Not sure though.

    Growing plants above water?

I was wondering if putting plants such as anubias in a pot with organic soil and sticking it on a window sill would allow it grow? My other concern would be if the rhizome could be placed under the dirt. Thanks!

    Lighting question

Use this chart :) I did not create this, I found it here but just saved it for quick reference. Also, try to avoid the WPG "rule" when using HO's; it's not very accurate.

    Stand to small for aquarium!

I don't think you can add silicone on existing silicone since it won't stick. Pictures might be a helpful addition p this thread though.

new tank setup for my betta

Most people recommend cycling the tank first. There are guides in the stickies I believe. But you should have a water test kit to see if the water parameters are in healthy levels.

When is a crack enough to cause problems?

Oh, in the second picture, directly above the left gourami's nose is what I'm talking about. The last picture is just a side shot to show the depth of the crack/chip.

    incandescent bulbs?

I'm about 95% sure I read an article that said incandescents are just about worthless. Flourescents seem to be the better alternative.

When is a crack enough to cause problems?

Hopefully these all upload correctly, never done it before. Here's the tank in question, my gouramis were quite curious haha. I try and keep the water just below the crack but I'm not sure if that helps or not.

When is a crack enough to cause problems?

Hello, I have a small (1/2 cm) crack about 1-1.5 inch below the top of my 45G tank trim. This was here when I bought the tank. It's pretty minor that I can run my finger nail over it and feel nothing. Should I be concerned though? Perhaps put some sort of patch over it? Any advice would be...

    Substrate for planted

Hi, I'm pretty new to planted but I was wondering if most/all plants will require plant substrate? I'm trying to start a planted tank but seeing how my tank is already established I would rather not have to drain it to put soil under my gravel.
