    Question about upgrading my tank

Just upgraded from a 35 to a 125. Here is how I did it in one day. 1. Started making RO/DI water a week ahead of time and put it in a 150 stock tank where I mixed salt. Had a few power heads and a heater in it as well. 2. Put live rock I got from a friend as well as dry rock in the stock...

    My new 220 gallon

ccCapt turned me on to the mag mix months ago and it worked very well. I have since went to store bought just because it is easier but may switch back one day. The key is keeping them all in check. If one gets out of hand you will have a tough time getting them back to balanced.

Buffy's 1st Ever SW Build - Reef Tank

Not sure if it would work on the larger ones but on the smaller ones you can entomb them in super glue gel. I had a couple on the base of my scoly and didn't want to risk the Aptasia X that close to him. Glue worked great.

    Rich's 125 Reef

Dary, I think a cold one or two helps just about everything doesn't it? LOL Jlsardina it is not covering the eyes at all. I will do some research on velvet. I appreciate all the good thoughts guys. It does help. :-)

    Rich's 125 Reef

Thanks Flreefer. Been a rough couple of days. Didn't have time to post here until now so I will bring you up to date. Over a 38 hour period we lost 4 fish. :-( We lost the Kole, our male clown, one of our firefish and the Solarinsis Wrasse. Spent a good 45 minutes on the phone with a reef...

    Rich's 125 Reef

I was sure but over the last couple of days I don't see any progress so I could be wrong. It might be that the "Grove" between feet (if that is what it is) has gotten a bit bigger but not much if any. Yesterday started out great but didn't end too well for me. A friend from the Local Reef...

    Rich's 125 Reef

Go for it Carey. They are a piece of cake for someone like you to take care of. Used to feed mine silver sides but they just didn't take it that often. I now just give them a squirt of the frozen food when I feed the tank and they seem to love it.

    And I start!

Well if it is a "He" wouldn't it be a "Royal Grandpa"? :-) Nice pic ups.

    Rich's 125 Reef

A couple months ago our RBTA split. Didn't see it while it was happening because the foot was behind a rock. Now in the new tank he is front and center and tonight I see he is about to split again. At this rate, my aquarium will pay for itself and I can retire just off of the nems I sell...

Thought it was time to shoot a vid of my tank. As is always the case, iPhone and LED don't play well together so the colors suck but in person everything pops. Rich's 125 gal reef - YouTube

    Doug's 250, now 300, in wall build

Only been about a month for me but my Chinese knock off LEDs are getting amazing results. I am still only up to 50% intensity and everything but my Duncans are exploding.

    My new 220 gallon

Very nice. What app is that. Never realized how bad it would be with my iPhone until I got the LEDs. Matter of fact, we had to come up with a new acronym because so many people would say "Crappy iPhone Pic". It is CiPP. :-)

    Rich's 125 Reef

A guy in our reef club graduated from GA Tech and is leaving for his first job in CT. He put everything he had up for sale. I just happened to see his post firs and snagged the two before anyone else had a chance. :-)

Little update. The Powder Brown Tang and the Lawnmower Blenny have settled in and loving life, the Solarinsis Wrasse is out and about all the time. :-) All of the corals with the exception of the Duncan have adapted well to the new tank and new lighting. My two Rose Bubble Tips have found...

    Dary's tank!

I would say that is a "Good Day at the Office". :-) I am not a big fisherman but back in the early 80s I lived in SE Arizona and a bunch of us from work went to San Carlos for a long weekend. We chartered a boat for a day and had a great time. That was like a month after the peso was...

Buffy's 1st Ever SW Build - Reef Tank

In my opinion, for what it is worth, I would put the return pump in the middle with the refugium on the end. Put a bubble trap between the skimmer section and return pump but only one baffle between the fuge and return section. Then, plumb a Tee with a ball valve off of your return pump to...
