    Shrinking sun coral

I believe the only reason they shouldn't be under direct light is so algae doesn't grow on them both my orange and black are under direct light and with good water quality I have no problems.

    Shrinking sun coral

Also full/actual parameters of your tank would help but i believe its a feeding issue...

    Shrinking sun coral

P.s feed your shrimp first or put a cap (top part of a coke bottle) over the sun coral so no one takes the food away.

    Shrinking sun coral

Sun corals need feeding every day like a dog, you can get away with only a few times a week and need meaty foods like mysis, if the sun coral still opens and takes food then i would say alot of tlc (feeding every polyp every day) is needed as they don't feed off light at all, if the coral...

    Clownfish & h2o chemistry

Clown will be fine if it's not already a female, water changes replenish trace elements so good call.

    Brain eating frogspawn!

A real strange one here i know, however my branching frogspawn bailed a polyp out i know why so thats not the problem but it made its way on to my brain (lobophyllia) and the brain seems to have consumed it, I have taken as much of the frogspawn out of my brain but still definitely not all, will...

    Bubble tip anemone bubbles experiment!

I'm guessing by the lack of responses to the thread that it was coincidence in my case oh well never mind I'm happy :) it was worth a shot.

    Breeding Clowns

If both are twitching i would say they are still competing to be the female. Have you seen them lay eggs before?

PLEASE help...clown was hit by frogspawn

I have heard of clown fish doing this dive technique at very very baby early stages of their lives when they are going to die just one of those things unfortunately, my guess would be the frogspawn sting was too much and your clown hadn't built the immunity slime coat to the toxins. Sorry :(

Chemiclean For Bulging Eye on damsel in FOWLR

+1 Giving all the facts would actually be ranting on (melosu58 defence), you have a solution here. I have a tang that had it I'm guessing from bumping into a rock and as my water is pristine it cleared up within a week.

    Bubble tip anemone bubbles experiment!

Hi guys i have had a bubble tip anemone for some time now and it never has had bubbles, I have in the past tried everything to get it to bubble from flow, light intensity, different spectrums too and feeding but always stayed the same, it has stayed in current conditions for a couple of months...

    Algae in live sand?

I wouldn't recommend a goby in such a young tank as they can be finicky eaters but after a year they'll keep your sand clean

    Coral question

It's your alk being too low

    Coral question

Also if calcium has been added and not magnesium as they have both been depleted over time why would his mag be 1300+ for sure?
  19. My Little Ocean

    Coral question

If you don't think the alk is of any concern at 1.7meq and won't cause problems with every coral then I may as well unsubscribe to this thread now buddy
  20. My Little Ocean

    Coral question

Anything from 2.5-4 meq/L (7-11 dKh) is acceptable so your way off that's probably your problem, IMO minimum 8dkh highest 12dkh. Also magnesium makes calcium available so your calcium actually may be higher than you think if your mag is too low. first step is to check mag and if needed raise mag...

    Algae in live sand?

Just that it maybe diatoms feeding on the silicates from the unwashed sand

    Dosing iodine

If your dosing you need to test for it as well, however I think it's a waste of time as this trace element is replenished in water changes
