    FIrst Sump Build

I'll def look into getting a 40 gal breeder instead. Why did you change your mind on it? For the overflow part, my tank is not drilled so im curious as to if i can just run my pipes from my sump directly into the tank. Is it absolutely neccesary for like an HOB overflow box?

    FIrst Sump Build

So i am building a sump for my 125 Gallon reef tank and im using a 55 gallon long aquarium. Its glass. My main concern is do i need an overflow box? or Can i just run the pipes from the tank to the sump? Also on the baffles should they be acrylic or glass? I have heard people have had bad luck...

New tank - Need stocking advice

I also dont really agree with the statement that six lines are only for experts. I have had my sixline for well over a year and the only thing they really require is high water quality which isn't all that difficult to maintain.

    Cleaning the tank.

Well the best way to identify it for the people online would be if you posted pictures. But since you said your tank is four months old which means you are in the begginning stages of your tank it could be cyano which usually happens when you first start. How long do you run your lights and...

    CUC questions

I personally like clean up crews. If you have a nice fine substrate like sand. Some Nessarious tiger snails are one of the most interesting inverts in my opinion. Also maybe some scarlett hermit crabs and some cleaner shrimp are always fun to watch.

or you could put in a royal gramma, they seem to be very popular nano reef fish. Or a catalina goby. They both have awesome coloration

    Stocking 90 g

Even if your Mandarin is doing okay so far, you still want to supplement your tank with live copepods cause eventually they will become scarce and hard for them to find. You can get them online for super cheap. I supliment my tank with a package every 2 months or so and my Mandarin is as happy...

    picaso trigger

Definitely rethink think that, because as huma-huma pointed out trigger will almost definitely go after your urchin. Not to mention a trigger in a 75 gallon tank isnt that great of an idea. Most triggers get 8 inches and up, along with the stuff you already have in there, the trigger will stress...

Blue Hippo Tangs in a 90G

As far as the Tang debate goes, overly stressing out a fish is 1) a waste of your time and money and 2) more importantly, why get a fish if you do not house the proper accommodations. As far as shrimp go, I have two cleaner shrimp and two fire shrimp in my 120 reef tank and they are absolutely...

Blue Hippo Tangs in a 90G

I haven't found and or read about a butterfly fish that is completely reef safe. But some can be reed safe with caution, with caution meaning they may go after some of your invertebrates, Like a Saddleback or a yellow longnose. They are reef safe with caution. Again, caution usually means theres...

Blue Hippo Tangs in a 90G

A foxface would be okay just mind that there spines are poisonous, you mentioned the tank was inspired by your kids, i know the likely hood of them sticking there hand in the tank is low but for the 1 in a million shot it does happen keep that in mind. But the harsh reality is on puffer fish is...

    Canister filter

I know i'm a little late to this, BUT! on my 60 Gallon reef tank i use a fluval xf5, which is rated up to 400 gallons. It does an amazing job on it. I've had it running for about a year now and i have 0 complaints. Amazon has it on sale for like 50 percent off or so, it was definitely a no brainer.

How much circulation is to much?

The only problem with using that much is, it kicks up the sand in the corners of my tank and ill have no sand in those area's.

Blue Hippo Tangs in a 90G

If you want something nice and Vibrant, you should take a look at Flame Angels which are a nice red with blue tip tails, or a coral beauty dwarf angle. Mind you, you can only have one or the other, they are both absolutely beautiful fish and will fit in your tank and are reef safe.

What kind of water after acclimation?

So i like to drip acclimate my fish for 2 and a half to 3 hours depending upon the fish and or inverts. After the acclimation i dont lose a huge amount of water, maybe 4 or 5 gallons, now here is my question. Do i need to add saltwater when i replace the tank water i take out? Or weill RO/DI...

Have you considered a six line wrasse? There super colorful and are very active. Fire Goby's are pretty cool and Royal Grammas add an amazing coloration. Do you have any inverts? You could def get a cleaner shrimp which are super fun to watch go crazy cleaning everything or some red footed...
