    Fedex...arghhhh!!

I can almost assure you the coral will be fine and the blue tang might be dead, they are very weak fish; a sissy fish, if you will...

    Help! Moving

Keep the water, keep the sand. No need to throw it away, period. I used 30g totes from wal- mart to move rock, coral and fish from my 250g tank.

I used the plastic 20 oz. bottle trick and it took about 30 minutes. Genius!

    Water Temp. Too High?

No, 80 is not too high to the point of doing harm. You'll want the temp ideally to be around 76-78, however hitting 80 will be of no concern. My chiller kicks on at anything above 79, but I aim to maintain water at about 79 (I like it a bit warmer than others). My tank is absolutely flourishing...

Use TLC Start Smart. Your tank will be fully cycled in 24 hours. Period.

    transferring coral

I am removing my coral and placing all of it (about 50 pieces) into huge storage totes (the totes will have the tank water, powerheads and heaters). I cannot put the coral in my new tank for atleast 24 hours because the two 500w heaters have not arrived and the new tank is too cold (I assume)...

what to use for ammonia source?

I'm about to begin cycling a huge 250g with Start Smart. My questions are: 1) what do I use for ammonia (a raw piece of shrimp I have heard before but will a single shrimp be enough)? 2) when do i put the ammonia source in the tank (beginning, middle, end?)? 3) how do I know when the cycle is...

new build, how do i clean tank?

Hmmm... If you're unsure about bleach I definitely won't go that route until someone can confirm it will be ok... Do you have any other suggestions? I appreciate the input.

4 blue and 6 acitinic or 2 blue and 8 acitinic?

Thank you so much, even though I'm still a little confused. Let's put it this way: I have 6 bulbs, and can only place 4 of them. 2 of those six are called "Aquablue" and the other 4 are "Acitinic." So, what combination of 4 out of those 6 I just listed will be best for coral growth/beauty...

Hey Carey, which combo will help with coral? I have a ton of coral... More acitinic or more blue?would 8 acitinic and 2 blue be best for coral?

new build, how do i clean tank?

Hello everyone, I just finished sanding and polishing my new acrylic tank. I used the standard water and dish soap method to do the sanding, I then clean wiped it with dry Terry cloth towels, I then used Maguires ScratchX to polish. Now, undeniably there is old soapy/polish residue all...

4 blue and 6 acitinic or 2 blue and 8 acitinic?

Only have room in the hood for 10 bulbs. 6 are connected (4 acitinic and 2 blue), therefore I will be using them. But then I have 6 more bulbs, in sets of 2 (thus, 3 sets of 2). One set is 2 blue bulbs, the other two sets are acitinic (I can certainly interchange them). So, what do I do: 1)...

    Transferring Sand from old tank...?

Hey all, I'm going to be upgrading tanks and had a question about my sand. I've had this present tank up and running for one year. I want to use the sand in this tank in the new tank. But will transferring it be harmful to the inhanbitants in the new tank because the sand is not fresh and clean...

Hey all, Setting up a 250g reef tank. The bulbs I have are (4) 54w T5 acitinics, and (2) 54w T5 aquablues. Will these 6 bulbs be sufficient to grow my various coral? Thank you!

Excelllent! Thanks so much, I was planning on just adding it after I add the new live rock/live sand. Wait a day or two, then cycle should be done... Thanks again.

adding instant cycle to established water?

Thanks for the input. I realize that, but because half the tank will be "new," do I have to use the instant cycle stuff? According to you, perhaps this is not necessary?

adding instant cycle to established water?

Hey gang, I'm upgrading my 125g to a 250g. I plan on transferring the 125 gallons of cycled water to the new tank and then want to add the remaining 125g with mixed saltwater with RODI. My question is this, when I'm mixing the new 125 gallons I intend to add to the tank, can I add the instant...

i have to move into a new house!! but how?

Keep the water. It has important bacteria/nutrients/etc. Keep the sand in the bottom of the tank with a thin layer of water on top of it. Put live rock/coral in buckets, submerged. Put fish in another bucket. Very simple.

    Information on Snowflake Moray Eels

I do not agree with what Nu Nu says here. I have a snowflake and he is the most gentle creature I have ever had in my tank. He never bothers any of my other fish (the majority of which are tiny compared to him and smaller than his mouth), he has harmed not one of my more than 70 different coral...
