    jack dempsey

I would never keep an old world with a new world. Plus cichlids are aggressive by nature but JD can be outragously so. Anyway buyer beware on this one.

i have a 13" sailfin pleco in my 120 gallon mbuna tank and he rocks it. Just acclimate slowly and whatever pleco you chose should be fine.

    Armegedon??

that really sucks. I do believe you heater was the culprit. if it stuck on (the closed position) it could kill all your fish. Plus if it did this and burned out its contacts it will seem like it just doesnt work anymore. Thus it is only 85 degrees when you wake up but it was higher through the...

    My cichlid is holding EGGS!

I have a 15 gallon I use for my fry but most the time I just leave them in the main 120 gallon tank now. I have a large rock slide on one side of it and they ususally hide in there until they can join the general population. Then they do and I scoop them up and take them to the fish store. Dont...

    Labeotropheus Trewavasee & Fuelliborni

I am lucky enough to have 1 of each of these but I like to keep my fish in colonies. Do these 2 species breed well in aquariums or not. My Keenyi, yellow labs and red zebra's reproduce at an alarming rate. Also I cannot find any of these around Seattle so I may actually have to buy these off...

Protein skimmer for african cichlid tank?

I have a 120 gallon mbuna tank and a friend of mine suggested that i should get a skimmer to help keep my nitrates under control. What of it? is this a good idea? My understanding is skimmers for salt water only.

    bumble bee

Yes if it was a male he would go to black. Dominant male of this species goes to it's breeding dress until it is dethroned.

    algae........

Live plants help UV sterilizer is only real sure fire way of dealing with it though.

Mystery snails in a cichlid tank?

Try anubius attached to a rock or driftwood. It might out compete the algae for nutrients and mbuna don't like the taste. so a bite then they leave it alone. It will help with nitrates also, as most mbuna tanks are overstocked (a. because they are the coolest fish on the planet and b. because...
