    sponge filter supplier

Same in my area, no one locally sells sponge filters - it's an online item and Swiss Tropicals is "the place" for sponge filtration.

First large fishtank, what do I do?!

I like your tank, your Pearl is beautiful!

First large fishtank, what do I do?!

Truthfully.... I am not Angel keeper and will leave your question to those with Angel experience.....

First large fishtank, what do I do?!

I like larger schools of small fish, 20 rummynose swimming all over would be awesome. Odessa Barbs - A Pearl Gourami - Angelfish Definitely a group of Corydoras You have a lot of options, look for fish that share similar temp needs.

    Nerites or otos

    Then go with the nerites.....

    Nerites or otos

Oh okay... With the Otos it's mainly being able to purchase healthy stock and then supply a sufficient and stable food source which is a bit more tricky than the snails.... If you've never kept otos, I'd purchase a grounp and give them a try....

    Nerites or otos

Both enjoy the algaes noted and each are very interesting creatures. I would probably go with the nerites, it's best to add oto's to an established tank (diatoms are usually found in new tanks) and Oto's really need to be in groups so you would have to add more otos than snails. I'd go with...

    Plant placement PART 2

Great selections! I would move the Java Fern away from the side glass and plant it where the c-red is located. I'd move the wood on the left toward the front a little, then plant the c-red up next to the piece of wood, near the end but behind the end - I would want to see the end of the wood...

    My 125

    Very cool theme!

    Plant placement??

I think it's perfectly appropriate, I just prefer and think a group of taller crypts would look better - matter of personal preference.

Why does my fish go up and down the side of the tank?

It's pretty common, a lot fish do this..... Like most things in the hobby, there are a wide spread of theory's and opinions as to why our little friends seem to be losing their minds! Rule out your water first, measure your nitrates maybe it's time for a water change - do a complete analysis...

    Plant placement??

A lot of people place swords in the corners, I like how yours is positioned in the tank.... and I think it will look even better as it grows.

    Plant placement??

Either species would be nice and would compliment your current plants - they are do different which is nice. But if I were picking one or the other, I prefer the Balanesae. They are crypts... so they don't like change, they will often melt when first planted but they will return and are hardy...

    Plant placement??

I think the 37 gallons are 23" high - the crypts I mentioned can grow 20"-23"... so they will grow to the top (which I like!). I would place them over in the corner where onion's at and wrap them around the back of the wood - just in the corner, not the entire backside - unless you like the...

    Plant placement??

Having to trim is good sign! If you like the taller thin look, you might consider Cryptocoryne spiralis or Cryptocoryne balansae (one of my favorites) in place of the onion. They are exceptional background plants but they do grow tall - not sure of your tanks height.

    Filters

I think that's a great attitude and sounds like me! Unfortunately, in my case instead of changing things up.. I started a new tank with my new and different set up which = multiple tank syndrome! [emoji16]

    Filters

I'm with the others, the AC50 is a good fit and I like the suggestion of end placement versus the backside. However, if you are interested in a canister I'd suggest the API Filstar (Small). They are super easy to prime and start, they have nice sized media baskets supplying a variety of media...

    Plant placement??

I like your set up.... Not sure what type of plant the taller thin one is on the right, but I'd add more of those - I think it would really balance out the tank. A lot of people tie anubias to wood, but I think it looks really great growing on top of the substrate - would be nice on either of...

how to quiet a noisy air pump

Then it must be something internal, I'd try a return.

how to quiet a noisy air pump

Mine usually make noise when the pump is "touching something"... Double check to make sure it's not touching anything. You might also try this pump on your other tank and see if it still makes the noise, if it does maybe you should see about returning it.

    Hydro 600 Pro Canister Filter

For hang on the backs I use Aquaclear's - they are very reliable, easy to operate, effective and inexpensive!

    Hydro 600 Pro Canister Filter

Yes I think it is overkill..... the API is also an excellent filter.
  24. thegundog

    Hydro 600 Pro Canister Filter

Buy it! .........That's a great deal. The 600 has 5 trays so you have a ton of media options and I believe it is rated for up to 150 gallon tanks. The filter is quiet, effective and is sleek enough that it could be displayed as opposed to keeping it in the cabinet (not that I would, but the...

    LOUD air pump

We can all probably relate to the noise issue with your air pump, I never had any that were really silent and I've learned to mask the noise in similar fashions as some of those who have already posted. I would not leave the tank unfiltered while you figure this out.. I would also want the...
