Hey everyone. I just picked up 4 cichlids, from my local shop that I have been dealing with for a long time and I just picked up what were labeled as Jack Dempseys. German Blue Rams

So it looks like I finally managed to get a pairing of Blue Rams. The male never leaves this females side and chases the other female away. He's not even bothered by the male and female kribensis in my tank either. I have a lightly planted tank with driftwood on either side. And I also have a...

Looking for some knowledge on German Blue Rams

So I have four GBR in my 55 gallon tank and so far it seems two have paired up but the other male and female don't seem to be interested in each other. Now I know they require extremely excellent parameters and well established tanks. But I'm wondering if anyone has any good websites or guides...

Well that was interesting to see

Just saw two of my new german blue rams chase off one of the other two that are in my 55 gallon long and seem to be doing the cha cha around a rock I keep in the middle of my tank that is lightly planted in the middle. I'm thinking I have two pairs in my tank but one is getting ready to lay eggs...

Red jewel cichlid digging?! What does that mean?

Hey I'm sorta new to cichlids, especially having a breeding pair. I noticed one of my large red jewels picking up sand and spitting it in another location. In multiple areas. It's not overly aggressive just yet, the pair chase the others in the tank periodically. Does this mean they are looking...

What to put in a 55 long? Please help

Hey so I'm restocking my tank as my fish passed on as I've been away working on the railroad and I currently have one turquoise jewel cichlid and a bristlenose pleco. What other cichlids could I add? I would like to avoid rams and add more color. But I know about territorial species. Any...

    Turquoise jewel cichlid help

I recently redid my 55 gallon tank and acquired three turquoise jewel cichlids. 1 is very active, the other 2 like to hide. One will come out fairly often from its little cave under its piece of driftwood. The other rarely comes out at all and seems to enjoy just laying on the bottom on the...

So I'm working on my 55 gallon tank and I have recently acquired 6 kribensis, 3 males and 3 females. I am currently going to be adding 3 sets of caves in my tank along with live plants and driftwood. I got this short video of two females flaring I thought I'd share. http://youtu.be/xAmNosQxOmU

Do you think they are trying to pair up? Male and female kribensis i think!?

I believe this is a male and female kribensis. The larger one has a dorsal fin that is much pointier then the smaller possible females. No aggression towards each other just constant following and checking out areas in the tank. Comments or suggestions anyone? I believe I have 2 males and 2 females.

Tests results, look good but am confused and need clarification.

Did my water tests today with a new master kit, didn't get a GH and KH test as my lfs didn't have it. Here's the results I got. What I'm confused about is the ph test and the high range ph test. The regular ph test gave me a 7.6 and the high range gave me a reading if 7.4 I believe. So my...

    Cichlids for a 55 community

I'm looking for ideas for a cichlid pair that will be okay with black neon tetras, cardinal tetras and harlequin rasboras as well as two bristlenose plecos. I'm no longer interested in German blue rams. I've considered Bolivian rams but I'm on the ledge with those. I like the look of red...
